Great place to stay I would recommend it to anyone who was going there the staff were a great help on tours and stuff the cooks made great food (and smashed me in pool) and since we were there in April it was Song Kran time and 1 of the staff even came to play out on the main strip of kanchanaburi. We had a great time there and the tours they put us on we're amazing. Also I recommend to go to "the One More Bar" which is across the road from Tescos and serve chip butties, cold cider and lots of other stuff that all Aussies and Pommies will luv.

Wife and i stayed at the Thai Garden Inn for 6 nights and had a really good time there.
The staff were all very helpful with varying degrees of English, and smiles were the order of the day. Local knowledge on what to see, where to go etc is always handy and no sales pitches on companies was a definite plus.
The location is away from the Town centre but within easy walking/tuktuk distance.
I hired a scooter, initially for 1/2 a day which (thanks to Judy) i held onto until the last night, which gave us the chance to go where and when we liked without having to bother anyone for a taxi etc.
The room was basic, clean, and everything worked as it should - though the front door did need adjusting - which was taken care of promptly.
The gardens were very well maintained, complete with good looking pool (we didn't use it so can't comment), and nice chairs outside on the porch to watch the world go by.
Laundry machines are a very nice touch and also cheap to use, and we had no problems with the quality of food that we ordered at night.
All in all a very nice time, well looked after and would stay there again should we revisit Kanchanaburi.

Thank you Robin for your great review. Good to hear that our staff were helpful and you had a good time in Kanchanaburi. Our gardener has a very challenging time with the hot weather to keep our gardens in a good condition and I am glad to hear that he has done well.

Equally important is the condition of the pool. I must say that John has put in a lot of sweat into maintaining it as best as we can.

We are happy to hear that both you and your wife had a good time here and we certainly look forward to serving you and your wife again in future.

Only stayed for one night but the staff were amazing and really made our stay. The rooms were clean and what we expected for the price and are set in a lovely garden area. also have a decent size porch to chill on. The food was excellent and has a nice little bar area which we had a drink at before a surprisingly crazy night in Kanchan!! Only briefly used the pool which looked clean but wern't many other guests around.

location also good, probably a 10 minute walk to main street but not many vehicles so not too dangerous to walk it.

i'd recommend to anyone

Room Tip: Talk to the staff - they're a great laugh

When we eventually got there(our fault.....tip make sure you have there phone # so you can call for a pickup which they offer free of charge) after walking from the train station the tourist policeman told us it was .5km turns out to be more like 2.5km we were greated by 2 very lovely lady's, turns out one was the owner Judy the other lady, never did catch her name was soooo friendly nothing was too much trouble & she alway had a smile on her dial. We had a laugh about our little walk while they checked us in.......bungalow basic but has everything you could need & is very comfortable........the aircon worked a treat.....we enjoy having a little porch to sit on, read & watch the world go by.....the pool was a real bonus given the temp the day we were there 43+ & we got to meet John Judy's husband......you are only 10 mins walk from town which is far enough away but close enough not to be a problem.....breakfast was very yummy........was there anything we didn't like, I thought the bed was a little hard but my hubby thought it was comfortable. We did however agree that the pool chairs were very hard for a day by the pool.....thanks everyone @ Thai Garden Inn you all made our stay feel like home.

Room Tip: We really liked room 3 next to the fish pond

Thank you PJ28 for your lovely review. We enjoyed having you and your husband here with us. About the pool sun decks, I think we will need to look harder for some soft sunbeds to put on top.

I am happy to hear that we have been able to make our little hotel like home to you. That is a great achievement for us.

Stayed here for two nights before going on a trek with Mellow Trek (fabulous trek). Cabins were OK but they could do so much more to them - bathroom very basic and a bit antiquated, however it more than served its purpose and the cost reflects this. Little bit out of the way but for us it didn't matter as we only used this as a base before and after the trek.

Food available was excellent and the use of the washing machine much appreciated. Staff were very helpful allowing us to store our luggage whilst we were on the tour. Gardens are lovely and very relaxing. Never used the pool so unable to comment.

Only downside was that we ordered a shuttle bus through them for 10.30 am to Bangkok to catch a flight from to Krabi. Not sure if the member of staff had given the wrong time or they were just late. Had to ring the company twice as they failed to arrive and they assured us that they would get us to Bangkok in good time. Apart from picking up more passengers waited a further 20 mins at the bus station for another passenger which made us miss our flight and having to fork out a further £100 - not happy.

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry to hear that you missed your flight to Krabi. Normally we would recommend a guest to leave us no less than 5 hours before if they need to catch a domestic flight and are using the bus and public transport in Bangkok. Most of the times, we would recommend a direct transfer to airport instead of going through Bangkok.

The mini bus is normally on time but during the peak season (like now), they tend to arrive within the half hour time frame (so if your booking is for 10.30, the bus will arrive between 10.30 and 11am).

But we will definitely ask our staff to be more diligent in future and advise guests to leave earlier if they are catching a flight.

Very friendly management and staff, most of them speak excellent English, comfortable beds, good airco, quiet location, nice garden, washing machine can be used (some extra charge) , there is a safe in the room.
Seats at swimming pool not really comfortable. Hotel is a bit far from most of the restaurants in the city - but the restaurant of the hotel is fine and a little bit further down the road there was an exellent option as well.

Thank you for your review. Hmm..seats at the swimming pool ... I wonder if you are referring to the seats in the hut or the sun decks. I have sent you a PM, so hopefully you can let me know which seat you are referring to and we will see what we can do.

First of all booking - the hotel recommended booking through booking.com who do not charge a fee. Location, as other reviewers say. is very close to main street and the famous bridge over the river kwai but across the river in a very peaceful setting. The accommodation comprises two sets of bungalows, one set with twin or double beds and the other family rooms. The bungalows all have a nice veranda with a table and two chairs. Inside they are simply but well furnished with tea and coffee making facilities and safe. They all have private shower room / toilet.

The staff are all very helpful and the food, both Thai and Western, is excellent.

Highly recommended.
