“Aleenta revisited”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

This is our fifth visit to Aleenta and I sincerely hope it won't be our last! Friends ask us why we don't try somewhere new, but we just feel we would be disappointed in comparison. We relax from the minute we arrive until we reluctantly leave. The gorgeous staff, so competently led by James, are just lovely - they never stop smiling and nothing is too much trouble. We ate there every night and, whilst the menu still offered us delicious alternatives each of our five nights, I'm sure chef Ian would have accommodated requests. James has worked so hard for the community and the farm is a complete credit to him. To see peanuts, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves etc grown there was special. The whole point about Aleenta is that there is nothing to do except turn right or left on the beach for a walk each day. Good for the body and soul. It has a very special place in our hearts - thank you so much to everyone.

Room Tip: Choose beachfront or Frangipani

About a 3 hour drive from Bangkok in a very quiet and relaxed area 30 minutes from the main town of Hua Hin. The beach is long, clean, and quiet as there are very few people. We really enjoyed the restaurant and food. The quality, variety, and presentations were fantastic. We were really pleased with the value and quality. The farm to table local approach is very evident in the daily specials and selection. Breakfast is freshly prepared with a large selection a la carte. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. Arrival was very late in the evening (actually early morning), but the staff was there to greet us and whisk us off to our room instantly so we could sleep from the long trip. We had two rooms, one on the beach in the main resort and another in the Frangipani wing. Overall we liked the main resort the best. The Frangipani offered the large pool right outside our room which was a plus, but the proximity of the beachside room in the resort could not be beat. This is a place designed for couples and families with older children, but only if they like to relax and not be entertained. Just what our family liked. The spa is very small, but the treatments are high quality. The only minus is the fitness center which was to small and with very old equipment. We were hoping for something nicer to keep our routines while traveling. This would be an area for improvement in the future. This is a very nice, small, boutique resort from which you will easily find time to relax and unwind.

Room Tip: Frangipani wing rooms allow children. Main resort has a no children policy.

We would like to start this review by saying a huge thank you to James for giving us a special welcome and by making our stay so special. He has put his heart and soul into this resort and all his hard work has paid off. We found that all we had to do was ask, and James and his team would do everything in his power to accommodate any request.

This is a small boutique resort, but with so many small touches that make it unique! James really cares about the local community, all the staff are local people, the produce mainly grown on site and even a garden where anyone can take vegetables for free. I could go on, but this review would take forever.

We were woken most mornings by the most beautiful sunrise and the sea lapping outside our beach bungalow, Perfect!!
We are not really beach people, we spent most of our afternoons by the lovely pool terrace which has a fantastic view over the sea, enjoying delicious canapés which are complimentary!
We also enjoyed our wonderful breakfasts delivered to our bungalow garden as well as the restaurant and again anything you could wish for, just ask!

One of the nicest touches, before we arrived we were sent an email asking us if we had any special requests, this included mattress toppers and choice of pillows. As a result we enjoyed the most comfortable bed we have ever had in a hotel. As an employee in the travel industry have stayed in a lot of hotels but have never experienced this service, other guests actually asked to buy the pillows because they were so wonderful.

We have now arrived back in England, probably the most chilled and relaxed we have ever been!
And would like to thank James and his staff so much for our fantastic stay in the Aleenta

We were looked after to the extent of being spoilt. Unobtrusive personal attention. Polite staff, excellent food and climate. Never saw anywhere else in the region that we would rather be. Highly recommended.
Thanks James and staff

Relaxed, bespoke and perfect. You're a name - not a room number. The staff are highly trained, attentive and engaging. The rooms are beautiful. The staff were delightful - special thanks to Ian (chef), Koy, Bill, Lukas and Lek - and the rest of the team. We wanted for absolutely nothing. James is something else - we loved the James-factor! James and his team went out of their way to make our holiday very special. We stayed nine nights and felt like we became part of Aleenta. A beautiful part of the world. We will definitely be back.

We were surprised to learn after booking this hotel that it was not located in Hua Hin as the name suggested but instead in the small coastal village of Pranburi, about 45 minutes south of Hua Hin. We should thank our lucky stars, as the resort is located on a pristine beach where the only sounds are the waves lapping the shore. Everything (absolutely everything) was perfect about our stay, including the wonderful meals at the restaurant and the gracious service. We particularly liked the nice eco-friendly touches, such as the fact that jam, butter, and juice were served in recyclable glass containers and bath amenities were similarly available in porcelain containers instead of wasteful plastic bottles. If we would make one suggestion it would be that the small incificual soaking pools outside the rooms be heated. But then we were there during a particularly cool period so that may not be something that most guests even notice as a "minus" during their fabulous experience at Aleenta.
