Just got back from family holiday, had 2 weeks at the Centara. Well what a fantastic hotel, excellent service and efficient, well organised staff. Nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble. we stayed on club level which I have to say was well worth it! Will miss the amazing breakfast with the best bread and butter pudding I have ever tasted. Steak night was fantastic not to be missed. Our maid (room 223) was just the best, everyday the standard was always the same excellent! I had a pedicure in the spa, well the best pedicure I have ever had! I could go on and on but the last thing to mention is the fact that no matter what time you went to the railway pool you were always found beds, I wondered if they magic them out of thin air! True gem of an hotel which oozes character!

Room Tip: I think any room would be perfect!

I have been in many nice hotels and resorts all over the World. But the Centara Hua Hin is one of the most impressive one. It combines modern services with the charme of passed times. It'is a oasis of peace and a place to slow down and recharge your batteries. I had the pleasure to stay in a premium deluxe pool villa together with my girlfriend. We arrived late and tired after a long flight and 6 hours horrible traffic from Bangkok. But we relaxed from the first moment on. Our luggage was well taken care of and check in was done fast and with a warm welcome. Since we checked in in the main lobby, we were driven to our villa, where the luggage was already waiting. There we got friendly familiarized with the amenities of our temporary home. Since the location of the resort is very central, you just step out of the hotel and find a wide selection of restaurants and Bars. Within 5 minutes walking you are down at the pier, where u get excellent seafood.
One of the big plus of the resort, is the size of the property. Even the hotel was full, it did not feel crowded, especially on the villas side. On the first morning, we got a tour through the property by the F&B director, who explained us a lot about the history of this wonderful place. The gardens are awesome and also the architecture of the main building is fascinating. I could imagine, this might be a perfect place for a romantic wedding.
We always took the breakfast in Salathai restaurant, which is reserved for the guests in the villas. Even though the buffet was smaller than in the main restaurant, you could order everything available on the big buffet by a large a la carte menu at no extra cost. We felt always very welcome there and the restaurant manager read the wishes from our eyes.
A big plus of the villas is the access to the Club. The selection of food and drinks is very appealing, and sometimes we only had very small dinner afterwards.
Right next to the villas is the public beach, where you find a lot of small restaurants, where u can get good authentic thai food freshly cooked for a reasonable price during the day, if you feel hungry between the huge breakfast and the cocktail in the club.
One part I have to mention is the spa. You will miss the best, if you don't use it. I love spa treatments and used it everywhre. But I never got a better massage, than in the Cenvaree spa in Hua Hin. If you go, ask for Noi, she has magic hands.
I also want to make a kudos to the security guards. Coming from the villas to the main building we had to cross the main road to the public beach. The guards always stopped traffic, to let us pass first and make sure we were not harmed by taxis or tuktuks.
The only "negative" I can say about this Resort is about the drink prices. Especially beer is heavily overpriced compared to the surrounding bars and restaurants. I know this is the price for being in one of the best resorts in the world, but since there is a supermarket right next to the hotel, this issue can be easily solved :-).
I finally want to thank the staff and management for their great efforts to make us a perfect stay, especially the housekeeper who made up our room always fast and very friendly in the short times we were not using our villa.
And since we walked through the elephant, throw a coin in the fountain and worship King Rama V, I am quite sure we will return.

Room Tip: For perfect romance, take the premium deluxe pool villa

As one who has been to Hua HIn 5 times (and due to return in early May 2014) I can only say if you want the best holiday in Thailand, do yourself a favour and stay at the Centara Grand Beach Resort. This resort is ideally located to the township, beaches, markets and everything Hua Hin has to offer. The breakfasts are excellent and its great to see the same staff working year after year. The pools and relaxation areas are extremmely well maintained and ideal for any visitor seeking rest and relaxation. The theme dinners / nights are always popular and worth doing if you have the time. The buildings / rooms are classic and for those who enjoy a "raffles experience" this is the place for you! Staff are friendly and very accomodating. I've loved every stay and look forward to the next stay!

My family and I spent two weeks in the Centara Grand in Hau Hin over April. The setting was lovely, the facilities excellent and the location within Hau Hin was superb.

With a number of pools to choose from within the resort itself we only made it down to the beach once. With a strictly enforced policy of no reserved sun beds it meant that when we turned up at a pool late in the day the towel attendant simply showed us to sun beds that had not been used in a little while and gathered up any remaining items that had been left. As a result, there was no mad rush at 7am to ensure you got a spot and people seemed more than happy to work within the system. In saying that there was a large number of sun beds available which I am sure helped with this.

We had a club room, which got us access to the Centara Club and as a result of being their on a B&B basis, we rarely had any formal dinner or lunch as there were light sandwiches and snacks available from 11:30 till 14:00, afternoon tea with light snacks available from 15:00 to 16:30 and then drinks and further snacks available from 17:30 to 19:00. This allowed us to not worry about having a lunch and allowed us to simply eat out in Hau Hin itself where the food was not only lovely but very cheap.

A mention must be made of the grounds which are beautifully kept and add to the whole experience.

The staff where friendly and attentive without being overbearing and all in all is a hotel I would certainly recommend to anyone.

What a very lovely hotel is the Centara Grand. Perfectly manicured gardens ripple into the Bay of Thailand as topiary wildlife pepper the soft lawns.
The building itself is a fine example of colonial charm: wide, sweeping verandas, an airy, open foyer and discrete, friendly service abounds.
Our room (213) had a view of the garden, a generous balcony and was classily decorated in teak and cream.
The hotel is minutes walk from central Hua Hin, but feels a million miles away from the vibrant streets. The hotel has a way of hugging you in and taking you back in time. The bars/restaurants/eateries are beautifully serviced and feel as though they jump from the pages of a top notch travel magazine. Though we used the bar facilities (preferring to eat out in the markets) the breakfasts were astounding, with a huge array of excellent options manned by friendly staff.
For us, the Grand Centara was a splurge (we wouldn't normally stay in a place like this, favouring more economical options) but it was worth every penny.
I've two suggestions for improvement (and this is real pedantry): fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee (who actually likes sachets of coffee whitener?) and ceiling fans for the outside areas. See...small stuff.
What a lovely place to stay in a truly delightful part of Thailand.
