Wonderful beach almost deserted. Golden sands. Only down side are the people coming up to you trying to sell table cloths etc. Was also told to watch out for the occasional jelly fish.

Walking along the long beach and enjoying the gentle sea breeze is a good experience, but water is not so clean for swimming

If I'm not mistaken, this was the very first beach in Thailand. Unless you're booked in the Sofitel, you have to walk south of Damnoen Kasem road to reach this place. There are a lot of beach chairs lined up near the entrance. There's also horseback riding being offered nearby, if you wish to feel like a Don Juan on the beach.

Other than that, I guess it's a pretty normal beach. The weather made it look a bit dreary. There are a lot of people, mostly Thais that come to this beach. I guess it's a good people-watching place, if the weather's fine too, but I'd rather not take a dip here as it's near the port.

We arrived late afternoon and thought the beach would be nice for a stroll, but there were jelly fish on the sand, and the sea was very dark and ominous. The sand is OK, but not your typical tropical beach. Lots of deckchairs in places and many people selling anything from pineapples to horse rides to trinkets. I wouldn't recommend lying on the beach, you may be jumped over by a cantering pony......
