“Worth a visit”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Wat Khao Takiap is a temple at the top of a mountain/ hill about 10km south of Hua Hin. The temple itself is quite small and not very imposing. It is at the top of several flights of stairs (no lift) and you need to be a bit fit. The views from the temple area are very good indeed.

The area around the base of the temple is populated by hundreds of monkeys running free. They are used to human contact and many shops sell nuts, bananas and corn to feed the monkeys. I don't know a lot about monkeys but the seemed quite happy. There are a lot of babies clinging to their mothers so they must be able to multiply actively.

There is no fee to get to the attraction and looking around at your own pace will probably take up to 2 hours depending on how much time you spend with the monkeys (the best part of the area in my opinion).

Reviewed August 15, 2012

The temple is located in monkey mountain and it got the name because of all the monkeys. Its a nice temple and the view are are awesome. You can also buy some souvenirs, if you are in hua hin this is a "must see"

“Great Scenery and Lots o' Monkeys”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

Been going to Hua Hin for years, but got up to the Wat for the first time this past Sunday. Nice views, and hundreds of monkeys. Some nice little shops selling tourist fare (but not too pricey, very moderate in fact - got a little straw hat for 50 baht).

I will come back again - mostly because of the great collection of small stores selling sea shells - trying to get a lot of them for our townhouse's ocean theme.

Good place to visit!

“Lots of fun”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

A great place to visit. If you have enough of the temples this is one you must see. The temple itself isn't that special but it is fun to watch the monkey's around here, and how they steal from the tourist. Especialy when they bought a basket of banana's

“its a proper hike!”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

we set off to visit this landmark in the evening to see the sunset. but we found the place to be very deserted. there were loads of cats and dogs in packs which was a little unnerving in the twilight!
its a very long climb for not that much reli. the monkeys are very cheeky and fun to watch! ate in a restaurant called la mer which did nice seafood. restaurant is decorated well and great views over the ocean and the city. because it was dark when we left they called us a taxi. staff were very friendly!
