“Best nights sleep in ages”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

I stayed in January and had no problems with noise at all, with the gentle sound of the sea and slight movement of the wooden building I had the best nights sleep in ages.
I had the deluxe double room which is on its own on the top deck and worth paying the extra as it is a large room with en suite bathroom,a good tv,quiet air con and fridge etc and very clean. The top deck has a small bar and many tables and sun loungers for all guests to use.I did not hear any noise from the lower floor.
You certainly need to be fit and able to get your luggage up the two flights of wooden steps but it is worth it.First thing in the morning with the sun coming up was a delight and I felt as if I was in a better position than the Hilton which is close by.Sure there are stray dogs in common with any Thai beach resort.
The staff and manager are helpful and friendly and told me the laundry is cheaper outside and went out to show me where it was but it is not as good as the guest house laundry for ironing shirts etc.
Situated on the old wooden piers of Hua Hin you are right in the old town with some teak houses and the fishing pier. You are right next door to the open air sea food restaurants which are very popular with Bangkokians on a weekend,Take a look at the old and very ornate Railway station and old open air trains before they are repaced with the high speed, you will get many waves from the drivers and passengers.
I have re booked the Sukkasem and look forward to returning.

Hua Hin is somewhat of a necropolis, a bit like Benidorm after a tsunami, and this is probably the worst experience I have had in a guesthouse.

Let's get the positives out of the way first, the staff are pleasant and helpful and the view of the ocean is pretty cool and that's it.

The main problem with this place is that it is virtually impossible to get any sleep. At first the sound of the waves is somewhat poetic but after one night becomes just plain irritating, making you hate the ocean. There is absolutely no sound-proofing in the rooms so if anyone walks or talks on the property, the sound is channeled directly into your ears as if you were listening to it on Dr Dre's headphones. The sound of footsteps is amplified to the point where you will believe the place is inhabited by ignorant giants, oblivious to the fact that other humans exist and may be, somewhat foolishly be trying to sleep between the hours of 1 am and 6 am. These "people" will also sit outside your room and talk until the early hours and it will feel as if they are actually inside of your head. These so called "humans" will then awake and stomp around and bellow vengefully with their hateful offspring at 6am, until every living creature in the immediate vicinity is wrenched from their 10 minutes of sleep to be filled with the hatred on which they so obviously thrive.

In addition, every night at around 2 am there will be what sounds like an organised, illegal dog-fight, taking place in your bathroom, with at least one of the dogs being brutally murdered, by what I can only assume is medieval torture. The barking of a single dog will start on the adjacent property, with the rest of the local strays joining in, like some sort of Stygian death chorus, in an attempt to summon Horus, to punish the humans for their domestication and subsequent abandonment.

On arrival, we found there to be a vast number of ants in the bathroom, which thankfully after liberal application of insect repellent vanished and did not return. However we did receive a revenge visit from a mate of theirs, a rather large cockroach, who came to repay us with nightmareisj visions in order to further rob us of any opportunity of restful slumber.

Hua Hin seems to be a mediterranean retirement community for aged western vampires, come to feast on the lifeblood of the local populace. This is a resort town in the vein of Santa Carla off of The Lost Boys, where decrepit ex-pat Nosferatus stroll around displaying their young Thai trophy Brides of Dracula. There is nothing for youth here.

We were due to stay for 4 nights but fled to the safety of a nearby metropolis after 3 and would have left sooner, if we could have made the arrangements.

Husband & I stayed here in December 2013. It was easy to find and right in the heart of Hua Hin on the water. It was very traditionally thai it was excellent. I cant explain exactly what it was like but it was full of character, the room was small but fine for a few nights to for somewhere to just sleep. There was a flat screen tv on the wall with English channels as well and perfect reception. There was free wifi as well great reception. The staff were friendly always greeting us and were happy and smiled it was lovely. Upstairs was a rooftop bar and seats it was nice. Not modern so if you are looking for something modern this isnt the place. The bathroom was also quite traditional - no toilet paper to be placed in toilet. Woke up in he mornings to the waves crashing underneath us was so beautiful. Great place - will stay again !

The staff are lovely, but our room - notably the bathroom - was absolutely disgusting. It is not acceptable to check in and find the bathroom floor covered in long hairs, or to find a dirty sink with half a used soap (and it's wrapper!!) next to it where the cleaner clearly just hasn't been in. I know it's cheap but we've stayed in a lot cheaper places in Thailand and they've still been clean.
It is nice to go to sleep to the sound of the ocean... but not nice to be woken up by your neighbours coming back at 4am clearly drunk / drugged and then having a party in their room next door. No one from the hotel is there overnight so there is no one to complain to. There is no sound proofing whatsoever, someone talks next door and you would swear they were in bed with you. I've been travelling for nearly 5 months now and this was probably my worst night's sleep.
Regarding the location - this part of Hua Hin resembles a cheap Mediterranean resort - lots of European bars, lots of offers of "company" from various young ladies and lots of tourists in football shirts. I don't mean to sound totally negative - the staff are lovely - but I wouldn't stay either in this hotel or this part of Hua Hin again.

Dear Guest,

We have addressed your remarks with the cleaning staff. I have to mention that we had some problems with one staff at the beginning of december, and now the new staff in place has been trained, and the quality of service is perfect. Since I come from Switzerland, and as the owner of the place, I have some high sensitivity about the cleanliness of our rooms.

We apologize for any inconvenience some guests might have created to you during your stay.

For the rest, Hua Hin is a nice little town and the surroundings have a lot to offer to travelers. The bars and entertainment area is small, and quite shallow compared to other places in Thailand.

We stayed here for a total of five nights and had a very pleasant time.
The rooms are small, like really small, but they have everything you need.
Also the guesthouse is clean and in good shape.
The guesthouse is located close to the nightmaket and shops.

The guesthouse is small, only 12 rooms. It's build on top of pillars, so in the morning you will be awakened by the sound of the ocean ( coming from under you flour ).
It's i true that the walls are thin, so you can hear everyone, but you can also her the wind, the ocean, birds and the waves, which is amazing.

No food, but on the rooftop they serve beverages and you can look over the ocean, you don't have to by anything to sit on the roof (free wifi)

A word off caution: DO NOT use the guesthouse's laundry-service, you pay per item which is unbelievable expensive, and the guesthouse charges 20% un top off that!! So unless you wanna pay between 450-700 bath for a couples of clothing, get It wash out in the city.

If you are going to Hua Hin you should stay here. The place is a hidden gem in the middle of the city.

And also: use the house's taxi service for a day trip, it's a fair price and the driver is nice and speaks good English.

Me and my girlfriend lived here two nights, and we were amazed. I recommend this guesthouse to every backpacker out there. Clean rooms, very nice and helpful staff, amazing "roof top lounge/bar" with a view over the sea. Good location near the beach and the biggest market in town "Night Market". Stay here if you want to experience the cozy Thai atmosphere!

Just returned home from Hua Hin for a memorable trip with all kids together.
We spent two nights at Sukkasem and I find worth recommending this accommodation for those first time stepping foot to Hua Hin.
The famed Hua Hin beach is just a stone's throw away. Variety of food of all kinds are just within walking distance.
ET, the owner is just a nice and helpful guy who will make your first visit to Hua Hin more pleasant and save time.
Custom made local visit is just a matter of minutes for him to get it done for you!
