“good location”

Royal Hua Hin Golf Club

This course is close to the centre of Hua Hin. I went to practise 2 times on the range. You are hitting of matting which is not so good. The driving range had good yardage signs but the grass on the range was not watered and was mostly dead. The practise putting and chipping green were good but a lot slower than other courses in the area. The course looked nice and friends who played it said it was good. I think it had a special playing rate after 3pm. I think there are better courses in Hua Hin but price and location are certainly a good thing here. Another plus is it is near the railway station. Cost us 100 baht in Tuk Tuk each way.

I played here for 2 reasons. It is the oldest course in Thailand and was 10 minutes from the hotel. the course is charming but in need of renovation. Here for example, The golf sets available for rental have seen better days, even if you pay extra for the premium sets.
you have to pay cash for the caddies and buggy hire. ( at other courses you can pay by card for everything.) On the course the tee boxes are not very good, fairways and greens were fine. With some investment in the course and facilities this could be a very course, and it is convenient.

We chose the Royal because it was the oldest course in Thailand and it was not too far from our hotel, The couse seemed well organised and the locker rooms and club facilities were good. The actual course was not in pristine condition the fairways a little below average but the greens were in pretty good condition. Our female caddies did not speak great english but they were very helpful and laughed a lot at our attempts to play good golf.
Overall a good couse to go and play for the average mid-high handicap club or part-time golfer. If you are a high standard golfer with a single figure handicap there are better courses in the Hua Hin area for you.

Greens in good condition and the rest of the course OK for the price.
Caddies very helpful.
Not too crowded so round reasonably quick.
