“A great holiday at a fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2010

We stayed at the Hilton for our wedding anniversay and we were really pleased with our choice of hotel. The Hilton is centrally located for shopping, restaurants, markets etc etc. Our room was really comfortable - we were on the 7th floor overlooking the swimming pool and hotel gardens. The housekeepers kept the room really clean, fresh bedding every day, bottles of water also supplied, as well as tea and coffee. My husband is a tea pot and the staff were more than happy to provide us with extra complimentary tea bags and milk. The hotel grounds were well kept. The swimming pool was great, especially the water shute. There was water aerobics, polo and volleyball if you wanted to join in. The beach was clean though small but the sea was safe to swim in. There are jellyfish around but people were swimming in the sea and I didn't hear of anyone getting stung. You could walk along the beach from the hotel and it does widen out. Only down side the sea was too sandy for snorkelling in. Breakfast at the Hilton was decicious - huge choices from full English to Thai food. I used to have a cooked breakfast (with an omelette of my choice), then fruit and yogurt, and then some pastries! We didn't dine at the Hilton for lunch or dinner - we thought it was expensive - equivalent to English prices. People we spoke to who had eaten there said the food was very good. We ate out every night - Moo Sea Food stalls/sit down on the night market was our favourite restaurant. Very cheap and tasty food. Plastic tables and chairs - so don't expect luxury just very good food. The other restaurants we ate at were also very good - not a bad meal in our 2 week stay. We also didn't use the Spa at the Hilton - once again very pricey. There are plenty of Spas/massage parlours to choose from in Hua Hin - our favourite one was over the road to the left of the Hilton - they wear green uniforms. Don't be deceived by the small entrance and downstairs - upstairs is huge and really luxurious. I highly recommend their massages - both Thai and oil. We both really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton and would love to go back. We booked through an independent travel agent on the internet (ATOL/ABTA), and he found a really good deal at the Hilton. Our 2 weeks plus airfare and transfers cost us less than a lot of people we talked to, so it is definitely searching the internet for bargains.

We had booked to go to Bangkok in early 2010 and had to re-evaluate, after the civil unrest. We love Thailand and didnt want to go anywhere else, but with an 8 month old baby, we wanted to feel safer. For this reason, we choose Hua Hin and it was our first time there.
We had a great experience with the Hilton in Bangkok and for this reason we chose the Hilton in Hua Hin.
Upon arrival, we were wrapped with the location. The Hilton is right in the middle of everything - close to restaurants, close to the seafood pier restaurants and only a short and very cheap tuk tuk to the shopping centre (which is where we would take ourselves for a few hours - if the heat was too much for our little boy and we had spent enough time at the pool).
We stayed in the gulf room, which was a great size for us with a cot. Great views of the beach too. The rooms are a little tired compared to the Hilton in Bangkok, but still modern.
The food and beverages were top shelf. Breakfast is huge - so many choices - Amercian, European and Asian breakfasts. We couldnt fault it. We ate in the Restaurant overlooking the beach one night (cant remember its name!) and it was a little pricey - certainly not expensive compared to Australia - but pricey in Thai standards. Food at lunch (at the pool) was always of a very high standard.
Pool area is superb - it has everything you need. We did have problems with the lounges though - people go down very early in the morning and leave their towels and then go on day trips! Although this is against the Hilton policy, we never saw any staff remove these towels, to make room for the people who come down and want to use them. I think the Hilton should get their act together in this regard.
Otherwise, the service was impeccable for us. I must say, the Thais everywhere are just completely different if you have a little baby - they just love babies! It was a real joy to experience. The two Hilton hostesses - Jutamas and I cant remember the other ladies name - absolutely outstanding (I will post a photo of them). Always coming over and making our son smile! One night we went to the piano bar for a quiet drink before dinner and to try and put our son to sleep in the pram and one of the staff took the pram off us and walked around the bar with him, and put him to sleep! I couldnt fault the service.
We would highly recommend this hotel in Hua Hin and would definetely go back.

Upon arrival the hotel is very large and resembles a large cruise ship. The main foyer was dreary and definitely in need of brighter lights and renovation. Staff seemed friendly enough certainly not overly. Massive pool and outdoor water features that are great for kids. The beach is right there and the views from the rooms are overlooking the beach.
Beds are just Awful hard and pillows hard as well ( seems impossible). Had to request towels just 2 in the room.
Rooms are dreary too. We registered a complaint and were surprisingly upgraded to a suite with an oversize patio. Exceptional view but still a dreary room. The mgmt. Had the maid add more covering to the mattress which made quite a difference. The following night the maid removed all the covering and we had another tortured sleep.
Breakfast buffet large fruit horrible and coffee as well.

My wife and I came to Hua Hin from Bangkok for the second time in 2 weeks. We were looking at residential properties. The first stay, which was lovely, was at the Sofitel Villas next door to the Hilton. This time, Sofitel was fully booked, so we decided on the Hilton based on a convenient location.

Our comments are based on the purported five-star rating of the Hilton.

Our immediate impression was that of a dreary, rather tired hotel. The staff was certainly friendly, but were neither well trained nor managed. We had a standard room which was very basic and equipped with the bare minimum of amenities. The bed, as mentioned by other reviewers, was rock hard. The same can be said for the pillows. We had a terrible night's sleep. No kidding. We made an appointment with the duty manager the next morning and informed him of our dissatisfaction. He said that we were not the first to comment about the quality of the bed. He upgraded us to a suite and apparently informed housekeeping to add padding to the mattress and provide pillows. Those efforts were effective and our second night's sleep was excellent. We had also asked for two more towels (only two are provided by default) which were brought to us.

The third night was a repeat of the first. The toppers were removed without wxanation from the bed and we were back to two towels. We had returned late to the room after a full day and hadn't realized the situation until we collapsed in bed. At that point we were simply too tired to call down to try to rectify the situation. We were simply amazed that housekeeping did not figure out that the manager's request was obviously for the duration of our stay, or that their largest suite would nominally have a decent bed and bath furnishings.

We checked out the following morning after finding an available room at the Sofitel just down the street.

As an aside, the views are excellent from, it would appear, all rooms. The breakfast was adequate.

This hotel was great and in a good location. It was very clean and the rooms were spacious and the views were excellent. The staff were friendly and the breakfast had something for everyone, even a dedicated "smoothy' maker ! The pool area was good and not too busy, so was nice to go there any time of the day and get a sunbed. I would definitely go there again 10/10. The only negative is that it would have been nice to have free wi-fi, but thats not the end of the world!

This Hilton locates in downtown Hau Hin. However, the road into the hotel is very narrow and almost impossible for one car, but it is a passing lane, incredible !!!! The environment surrounding the hotel is very commercial and the beach is not so good. The hotel room is old but the upkeep is adequate. The pool is big but not good for swimming laps, just for fun.Internet is available but is charged. Overall it is an average hotel, but may be too pricey for what if offers.
