“Costa del Thailand!”
Reviewed June 23, 2007

We went here at the end of an amazing three week break in 2006 for a friend's wedding. All I can say is after staying at hotels such as the Marriott Resort and Spa in Bangkok, the Shangri La in Singapore and Bang Tao Bay in Phuket, I was terribly disappointed. This was not my first trip to Thailand and I have travelled extensively all over the world, so I had quite high expectations.

The room was a boring square box, the staff were friendly, but it just felt a bit like being in Spain or Portugal. It had that 'Brits' abroad feel about it. If you love places like the Maldives, hidden gems, boutique hotels, or comfy hidden chilled spots, don't stay here.

This was a fabulous place to end our vacation in Thailand. We spent 3 weeks in Thailand and wanted the last leg to be relaxing. The pool and facilities were great, as was the staff and service. I would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Stayed at Hilton at the beginning of May. Paid a bit extra to stay in a club bay room. This gave us access to the club lounge on the 17th floor, where we checked in.

We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights, and chose to eat our breakfast in the club lounge where the food was cooked on request and the friendly staff were attentive for teas/coffees and juices. If the weather was good (it did rain a few days on our visit) you could sit outside and admire the views.

Other advantages of the club lounge included afternoon tea & cakes, soft drinks all day and pre dinner drinks & cocktails, accompanied by hor d'erves from the chinese restaurant (all this is included in the room price!!).

Hotel is in a superb location, right on the beach and in the middle of 'strip', step outside and it's all on your doorstep.

Food at the hotel was good, including eating at the Hua Hin Brewery company, loved the bar b q'd salmon. The drinks there were good too, try the elephant tusk ale (if you are brave!) especially good whilst listening to a covers band.

We found the room overall was very big, clean, & tidy with a big bath & a walk in shower, with flat screen TV & dvd player. Beds turned down nightly, flowers and chocs on the pillars etc.

Outside the hotel, there were plenty of bars to choose from, even the "girlie bars" didn't hassle you. This is the opposite end of the scale to pat pong in bangkok !!!

In you fancy a massage, plenty of places to choose from, my favourite was opposite the hotel 'lillidee? - i think' went there every day, an hour massage for £5 !

Recommend these 2 places to eat - 'Swadee Ka' restaruant opposite the hotel to the left, lovely inexpensive food, watch out if you ask for the food to be thai spicey !! it's hot, and the Amercian Rib Shack (upstairs from Mcdonalds), superb ribs if you fancy a change from thai food'.

After being in bangkok, Hua Hin is suprisingly Thai, with a lot of Thai families here for there holidays, not seedy and plenty of choice for eating and drinking.

Overall we had a great time, would recommend !

We checked into the Hilton for 7 nights after leaving the Aleenta (see other review) and were pleasantly surprised. whilst the exterior may not be to everybodies tastes, and it seems an inherant trait in Thailand never to paint concrete surfaces (see flyovers in Bangkok) here in Dubai it makes such a difference to the vista.
this aside we checked in, and one thing i hate is paying for Internet access, this should be a standard feature of your stay in ANY hotel. We looked at all three types of rooms available, executive, deluxe and Suite (Club room) by very helpful staff.
we checked into the deluxe room and whilst my personal impression were that the rooms were a little spartan, the wife loved them and maybe i was being a bit critical.
the food was amazing, cheap, and the breakfast catered for every conceivable taste, staying open until 11am giving ample time to reach the morning meal.
service was excellent and the pool bar was better than average with a afternoon happy hour to ensure satisfaction.
we had finally arrived, in our opinion, to the Thailand we remember, with fantastic Pad Thai and the friendliest of staff we had come to know and love.
room service was magnificent and nothing was ever too much trouble.
we did try the chinese restaurant on the top floor and whilst the menu was a little limited we enjoyed a lovely meal in lovely surroundings.

i have no hesitation reccomending this as a place to stay, especially for families as the pool area was great for kids. i am not sure why people have disparaged the beach, as it was the same as any other beach along the coastline that we saw.

we used the limo service back to Bangkok and have no complaints at all

Apologies for the length of this report, hope it doesn't bore anyone too much.

Arrived at the Hilton via airport limo which i arranged on arrival at airport (thanks for info Monica4). It cost £3,600 for a comfortable people carrier for 2.

On arrival at Hotel were seated in comfy seats and given the cool towel and cold lemon drink. Check in took about 15 minutes. When asked for c/c advised them i didn't have one which they were o.k. with and didn't even ask for deposit. All my requests had been noted, room on high floor (overlooking the town and fishing pier), non-smoking floor and one king bed. Booking was made thru a travel agent so unable to get the HH points

The room was clean but was showing small signs of wear and tear, mainly in the bathroom. Still nice though. There was a presence of those small ants in the room when we first got in and it was difficult explaining to housekeeping what i had a problem with as they seemed to have disappeared when they arrived. But some appeared and housekeeping promptly got a spray and sprayed all the areas they had been and i didn't see them until the last few days and by then i had bought my own spray for any eventuality.

Straight away we ordered room service and it was absolutely delicious and well presented and served. That was the first of many room service orders and eating in the market restaurant - always wonderful - always Thai. The jungle curry was better than any i've had in London and they have a cheese cake with raspberry sauce - so creamy (they gave me cream with it on req). The breakfast was as previous reports - very plentiful and lots of variety.

Other good food places are Robinhood restaurant opp Thai Boxing Gardens and the roast dinner provided by Dave at the Jungle Juice Bar. The Brewery Company food I would not repeat as not very tasty/interesting although the service was attentive. Also Chao Lay was disappointing, tried a couple of times and food was warm when it arrived and not too tasty.

The Hilton bar was expensive but the singers were taking requests and it was fun sipping on the cocktails and jigging about to the songs.

There’s a launderette opp the Hilton with lots of clothes being sold on rails inside. Good and quick service.

The World News Coffee shop was great. Cheap internet 20b for ½ hour or less. Cake I tried was a bit stale but I visited for internet and ice cream – vanilla is delicious.

Emptied the mini bar in room straight away and housekeeping took everything away. No problems with this on check out. Everyday they put new comp water for us to use.

I would recommend Baan Kwakaman (not correct spelling). Just down from the Hilton and next to Royal Thai spa. Had a great body scrub and facial (fell asleep during facial).

The weather was very hot and on day 8 we had a great storm with lightening in the late evening. That was the only bad weather.

Only visited the beach once in early morning but had seen quite a few people in the water everyday. On this morning there was a huge jelly fish washed up. It was the size (maybe a bit wider) of a football!

I got a 12call sim card from a 7-11 store for 199b which included 100b credit. Bought 2 x 100b credits extra but didn’t finish last one. Made about 2x10 minute calls to UK, 2 x Thai calls – one 15 mins other about 5 and sent about 10 texts to uk. Had my phone unblocked locally in UK at a phone shop for £10. Definitely worthwhile doing this

BIG TIP: I took vitamin b1 and garlic capsules for about 2 weeks before I left England and whilst in Thailand. I took double dosage of vit b and normal garlic. I only got bitten once the whole time I was there and think that mossie (if that’s what it was) must have been desperate! You could see them trying to get near me and hanging around but no bites…. apart from the desperate one and that was on day 8.

Hope this assists people in their choice of hotels.

We have just got back from Thailand and stayed at the Hilton Hua HIn, we were there for 8 days and enjoyed it very much, when we arrived we were offered the usual towel and cold drink you can expect from 4/5 star hotel.
We were given a room facing the sea on the 2nd floor, lovely room and nice view, but i asked if we could have a room on a higher floor, moved to the 10th floor and the view was fabulous.
Tip, always ask for better!
The hotel is in a fantastic position for the many wonderful restaurants and bars, (recommend the fish restuarants on stilts in the sea) go out of the hotel front and turn right and you will come to them, if you like fish you will not be disappointed.
overall i would rate this place 9/10, with great pool, facilities, and service, and hua hin a great place.

I spent one week in the Hilton in Hua Hin last October and I have to say it was one of the best holidays ever...
Great rooms (about the most spacious I have seen in this price range so far), good pool, extremely friendly staff and the best of all, a superb location in the middle of Hua Hin (for food, drinks, massage, thai boxing, night market etc.)
The hotel has a nice kids club, a big floor with Computers, Pool tables, an in-house cinema and a lot of activities for kids and adults.
The beach was not worth mentioning, but I went primeraly there to play golf and for this, it is just perfect.
