Away from the hustle bustle of Bangkok. Lots to do inside and outside the hotel espcially the water slides, and water fall. Relaxing and watching fora and fauna within the resort is amazing. Cleanest beach we have ever been to.

We had a great time at the hotel earlier in the year, leading us to decide to return.

As with all return visits to hotels, I was a little bit nervous that perhaps the hotel would not match up to the memories of our previous visit earlier in the year. I should not have been concerned.

The Great

The Barai Spa

We finally made it to the spa this trip and it was absolutely worth it. What an amazing location. Wandering around inside the spa was almost as enjoyable as the spa itself.

The Regency Club

One of the great things about the Hyatt is the Regency Club. As a Hyatt Diamond, we were automatically upgraded to club rooms, although in my view it is certainly worth the extra money.

While the hotel is really good anyway, this is where the hotel really comes into its own. Even when the hotel is busy, the Club still feels secluded. Fresh fruit in the rooms every day was also good. The breakfasts were great, as were the canapes, although there could have been more vegetarian options for canapes.

We were at the hotel with another family, and both families had young children, which resulted in one unfortunate incident with some other guests where they complained about the young kids playing in the club pool and disturbing their rest. The guests sought to have club staff remove the kids from the pool, but they declined (correctly, in my view) to do so.

The grounds

Immaculate as always - really feels like a tropical resort. The kids' sand pool is absolutely fantastic.

The staff

In a word, fantastic. From the club staff to all of the staff around the hotel, nothing was too hard. The hotel occupancy meant that the You&Mee restaurant by the pool was probably a little bit undermanned and struggled during peak times, but hey, it's a holiday, so what's the rush?

It was good to meet Sammy and say hi - also good to see that he spent his time around the resort meeting guests. Keep up the great work.

The not so great

It is peak time, so the resort was, understandably, pretty full. Unfortunately, this led to the well established practice by many guests of lounge hogging - placing towels (or clothing) on lounges first thing in the morning and then disappearing for hours. This needs to be policed a bit better by the hotel, although I noticed many people simply moving items from lounges which had not been occupied for a long time.

The kids club could be improved. We only used it once, while we went to the spa, but it was little more than a babysitting venue. Perhaps a larger area and some play equipment would make a difference, although with the great kids pool areas, it may not be necessary.

The weather/climate

Our last trip was in April, when it was very hot. This trip, the weather was much more pleasant, but my wife felt that the weather was not hot enough for a non-heated pool. The kids and I did not agree, but it is worth noting.

I have noticed many comments in relation to the beach. With the benefit of having visited during 2 different seasons, I can say that this is seasonal. Over December/January, the high tide comes right up to the wall of the property, and there is no beach to speak of. Even at low tide, the beach is only about 10m - 15m from the property wall. However, in April, the beach was a good 30m+ from the wall at low tide.

We still managed many walks along the beach at low tide.

Transport

We used the hotel to arrange a van from the Hyatt in Bangkok to Hus Hin, but the 6,400 really is a bit steep. We used a local outfit for the return trip (found them reviewed on tripadvisor) and it was 2,800.

I highly rate this property and am sure we will be back at some point.

Room Tip: Club rooms on the first or second floor. See if you can get a room with an enclosed balcony.

Dear dtm1

Thank you very much for you choosing to stay at the resort once again with your family in December. I wish to thank you for providing details feedback of your experience in two different seasons in Hua Hin from the guest's perspective.

As you correctly said the nature of the tide in Hua Hin is different in Nov/ Dec and April and even though it seems the tide is always high in the end of the year but there is always a low tide periodically which allow guests to walk on the beach.

I appreciate your observation about the Regency Club, the grounds and the staff members. We will certainly address the sun bed early reserve habits by some of the guests and implement stricter control about it. The diverse daily camp hyatt program and the children playground are available throughout the day but we will look into further activities to keep the children entertained during the day.

We are grateful for your support and patronage and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Sincere regards

Well, this was the right choice of Hotel and Location. Especially when planned at short notice from Bangkok whether to travel either East along the coast towards Cambodia or West and towards Malaysia, being in mind the rain was forecast to be awful from Puket southwards at this time in early December.
Hotel is in well designed grounds with a variety of Eating areas, and very generous Breakfasts.
Room was great and comfortable and always a pleasure to return to in the evenings and likewise to wake up in,in the mornings.
Travel services organised by the hotel both into Hua Hin and back to Bangkok were great and good value for money.

Room Tip: Closer to Beach will inevitably be quieter

The big disappointment at this hotel was that beach was only partially existent. During high tide, there was no beach and it was really only possible to go into the ocean during low tide. It was impossible to sit on the beach or make a sand castle. One can sit on the hotel property overlooking the ocean, but this isn't enough if you are supervising a child in the waves. The pool grounds were beautiful although the water was colder than expected. My children enjoyed the water slide except the hotel decided to do noisy maintenance on the water slide on Christmas Day when everyone was by the pool. They finally stopped after enough parents complained, but we lost half the day.
We had 2 rooms that connected through the balcony. The rooms were simple but elegant, the balcony was pleasant. We skipped breakfast and made tea and had breakfast on the balcony which was very pleasant. We ate lunch by the pool a couple times and found the food and service mediocre.

Your question is valid and the fact is during mid December to end of February there is little beach existed on this High tide season in Hua Hin/ Chaam area. However try to come after March 2013. And you won't be disappointed.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a week in June 2013. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were warmly greeted by the reception staff with a welcome drink and cool flannel. This level of attentive service was shown to us by all staff throughout our stay. The only time when service was slow was in the restaurant at breakfast time where staff seemed disorganised at times. We loved the beautiful grounds of this resort and the massive pool. We had wonderful meals in the Thai restaurant and McFarland House. We also enjoyed fabulous treatments at the spa-a definate must if you stay here.We were allocated a ground floor room which looked out onto the pool. The bedroom was very spacious with a lovely bathroom but as other reviewers have stated the beds were far too hard. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view of pool as some have trees blocking view

My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Hua Hin from December 22-28. The limo arrived at BKK airport as promised and our ride (about 2 1/2 hours) was uneventful, and our driver was friendly and professional. After a very long trip from Toronto (30 hours door-to-door), we were pretty exhausted when we arrived at the resort around 10:30AM. Upon checking in at the main lobby reception, we were informed that our room might take awhile to get ready, but we were escorted to the Regency Club (well worth the $$ to upgrade) to have some breakfast while we waited. To our relief, a priority was placed on getting our room ready and we only had to wait about 20 minutes to check into our room. We stayed in a Club Deluxe King, and we were very happy with the room. It was quite large and also had a veranda (my wife's favourite spot to relax), and was spotless.

The grounds on this resort are gorgeous, and maintained very well. The beach at Hua Hin isn't as picturesque as Phuket, but the vistas were still quite lovely (note: beware the sand flies...their bites aren't fun) and you can walk miles in either direction to explore at lower tides. The main pool is quite impressive (loved the waterslide!), but was a bit on the chilly side. The Regency Club pool is smaller and more exclusive, but also a bit cool. As it's a bit smaller, there aren't as many lounge chairs available, so an early arrival to the pool deck is recommended.

The Regency Club provides a comp breakfast (cold & hot options available), as well as free cold/hot food during Happy Hour between 5-7PM (free booze, too!). The service was excellent, with plenty of seating available. This is where upgrading to the Regency Club is a good option, since with breakfast and Happy Hour, you can almost forego eating at the the other restaurants on the property (though the food there is excellent).

The Christmas Eve dinner was superb: a huge buffet, with both traditional and local food on offer. The Thai version of Santa Claus also showed up, and 2 musical groups also performed during the dinner. Listening to the quintet peforming Ave Maria was sublime. We also had the Romantic Dinner on the beach, and it was an unforgettable experience.

We also had 4 free massage treatments (included in the Club Deluxe Room rate) at the Barai. Just amazing...the building itself is incredible and the service and treatment exceeded our expectations.

The only negative I can identify during our stay were some of the other guests at the Regency Club. I am loathe to stereotype, but am starting to get the impression that a lot of European travellers seem to utterly lack manners when it comes to how they treat the staff. Given at how hard the staff works at this hotel, it's utterly appalling to see so many of these guests treat them like serfs. Shameful.

I cannot say enough about the amazing service we received at the hotel. I stay at Hyatts regularly for business and had high expectations coming to this resort, and the staff here exceeded them. The leadership starts at the top: Sammy is a superb GM and made a point to stop by several times (including our dinner on the beach) and make sure everything was to our liking. He sets the bar at this resort, and the staff follows his lead. This dedication to service is what really sets this property apart. Kudos to all the staff and management, you made our stay memorable.

Very Best Regards,

Cale & Nadine Nicholson

"Paradise" is the word we would use for our 6 day relaxation holiday from major cities .
Every thing from check in 27th dec 2013 to our departure 2nd jan 2014 was faultless , remember that this time of year all Hotels are full occupancy and very busy!!
Not once did we feel crowded, yes lots of children, but many places to find a quiet spot by the pool or beach edge .
We celebrated the New Year at Gala dinner , soon made new friends at our table and saw in the new year with glasses full and fireworks .
There were always pool attendants and they ready to help, ( smiling and a friendly hello ) provide more than enough towels for the lounge and after swim dry off .
Rooms were perfect , with large balcony and all room amenities just right ,
We were staying in standard king room with pool view 3 rd floor , not Club rooms ( we booked late and they were full) this was never a problem , where ever you stay in this very well run Hotel , you will be happy .
We can't wait to return , and would highly recommend this beautifully located Hotel to couples and family .
Five star *****
We will return to our busy lives all refreshed and thinking 2014 is starting off beautifully .
Many thanks Hyatt Regency Hua Hin all the best for your 2014 from 2 very happy guests .
