Exceeded my expectations

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 23, 2013
I used trip advisor to select a hotel that was convenient, reasonably priced (booked through Agoda) and clean. I settled on Colonnade and it completely exceeded my expectations. I had what seemed like a brand-new room (room 608, very quiet) and it was close to everything: beach, pier, night market, and restaurants/bars were no more than 10 minutes walk in any direction. The mini-vans to/from Bangkok stop less than 100 meters away.

The staff, though not proficient in English, were helpful and responsive in every instance, especially my housekeeper (6th floor) and the room engineer. When I thought I had a problem with my air conditioner, the engineer was in my room within two minutes to solve the problem.

The breakfast, in my opinion, was the only drawback. You are given coupons to redeem at Tom and Tom's coffee shop around the corner, but on the two days I stayed, I was served a cold breakfast. I got the impression that patrons from the hotel were treated differently from those that were not redeeming coupons. Perhaps it was just bad coincidence.

I will return to Colonnade and have already recommended it to a friend.

Room Tip: Room 608 was perfect. Quite and spotless.

The hotel is located in the middle of Hua Hin city, perfect location and you can walk be at the beach in 10 min. The room has nice size but the toilet and shower are not fantastic, it has a little door that can't close completely so not much of privacy. But again it is very cheep to stay here and the cleaning is just fine.

It was the cheapest room in our two week trip so my expectation was not high but given the high rating I expected better. Worse is the lack of sound proofing. Totally flimsy. I could hear neighbors next door quite easily and toilet flush was like thunder.
Appreciated staff making up room quickly when we turned up around 11. Cleaning parking and reception staff were all nice. The breafast at adjacent 24 hour coffee shop was quite nice food and facility wise but on the day all the guests had to wait at least 30 mins which made some guests very irate.

This is a small hotel in the middle of Hua Hin. We chose the hotel beacause of easy access to the bus taking us to Chumphon ferry pier. We decided to stay two nigths to visit night market and do other shoppings.

The checkin was quick, you had to pay in advance. The room itself was bigger than I expected. We had a room in the seventh floor and I cannot say that there was much of seaview. Everything was clean, the room had been recently renovated and was very simple. The hot water ran out in the evening. The ac was good, pillows were too thick for us and you could hear the noise from the street and the corridor. The overall room quality was somewhere around 3* and other premises were 2* at the most.

If you want to have a hotel with central location or easy access to busses to Chumphon, this might be an option. The beach is very nearby and it was possible to borrow beach towels. Dipping into the pool after the day in the beach felt really good. Paid 50 eur for a night including a breakfast. The breakfast was ok and was served at the cafe in the mall.

I would not personally stay here again. With 10-20 eur more, one can have better quality accomodation in the neighborhood. But on the otherhand, there was nothing wrong, the location was superb, it was cheap and Lomprayah busses departed next to the hotel.

Stayed in this hotel and had 5 rooms for 3 weeks. Great location close to everything. First two days breakfast was terrible, cold food, loud music being played by the young staff. Then the receptionist gave us vouchers for breakfast around the corner - great breakfasts at the 'Le Petit' Then were told the chef was taking over the kitchen at the hotel, after that we ate at the hotel and had great breakfasts and enjoyed talking tot the very friendly chef and her assistant.
I hope she stays because we will book again for 3 weeks in March 2013. All staff were happy and helpful.

Room tip: We stayed on the 7th floor that overlooked the night market and the ocean.

The rooms in this hotel are extremely nice as well as being spacious. They are well fitted out although tea and coffee facilities would be appreciated. Service could be a lot better and the breakfast was very disappointing. All the food was cold and unappetising. Would still stay again as the rooms are excellent as is the location close to the beach, night market and railway station.
