Description: There are a number of good restaurants along the wharf area. Saeng Thai is a very good option. We tried Chaolay Seafood as it was recommended by one of the local residents of Hua Hin. It was an excellent recommendation. Before climbing the steps into the main restaurant you pass a large selection of fresh fish. Once on the pier, there is an army of staff to seat and serve you. My colleague and I ordered a scallop appetizer, a whole fish main course and a large fried rice side dish. The food was very good and the pricing reasonable, less than $30 for all of the food and 4 beers. Chaolay is worth a visit.

“Great food, need more staff”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

The food here was outstanding, especially the prawns. The night we were there though was very busy and staff couldn't cope with the demands of the customer, quick enough. This place would be much higher on the rankings if they just got the service right. The food is fantastic and very cheap compared with other restaurants. As a smoker I was actually pleased they had a smoking area away from the food/eating area, as not many places in Thailand do this.

“One Kilo was not enough!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Visited with a friend the other night (April 13) and had one kilo of tiger shrimp, papaya salad (Sum tam Thai) and glass noodle seafood salad in addition to rice and drinking water. All food tasted fresh and great and the total bill was around $42 all in. Great location on a pier on the water in the downtown area with walking distance to the Hilton Hua Hin.You pick your crusaeteans downstairs and tell them how you want them cocked (fried, steamed, or grilled), then head upstairs to consume them! Highly recommended.

“great location”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

this restaurant sits on a pier reaching into the gulf waters......good breeze makes the temperature good....this place is always very busy.......the seafood is excellent and the many staff are quick and friendly...prices are higher than other places around the market but you are paying for the setting.....the one complaint from our group was that on both nights we were there the beer was not cold enough......

“Great atmosphere”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Visit Thailand and you have to visit Chao Lay. A manic seafood restaurant built on the wharf alongside several other buzzing establishments. As you arrive you see the tanks of seafood underneath the restaurant with a host of staff all milling around. Go up the stairs and you will be led to a table where there are more staff flying around the area. With plenty of choice at good value, authentic fresh Thai food to eat whilst sitting out over the sea in mid February - what is there not to enjoy. A fun experience throughout.
