Description: There are a number of good restaurants along the wharf area. Saeng Thai is a very good option. We tried Chaolay Seafood as it was recommended by one of the local residents of Hua Hin. It was an excellent recommendation. Before climbing the steps into the main restaurant you pass a large selection of fresh fish. Once on the pier, there is an army of staff to seat and serve you. My colleague and I ordered a scallop appetizer, a whole fish main course and a large fried rice side dish. The food was very good and the pricing reasonable, less than $30 for all of the food and 4 beers. Chaolay is worth a visit.

Some really really great food, very nice wait staff, they move fast and you have your food fast, but you're free to sit and enjoy the view. The food was SPECTACULAR, really... it tasted very fresh!! Oh and they take Credit card, which can be a blessing when in Thailand trying to conserve cash money!

“Great seafood at reasonable prices”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

This must be the best seafood restaurant in Hua Hin. Food is cheap. We spent like USD40 for 6 dishes including prawns, rock lobster (caryfish) - which costs THB600 for 3), scallops, and fish. Great value and very good tasting as well. There are two similar restaurants on either side which also extend out into the sea but this was by far the most crowded. It was patronised equally by tourists and local alike which is always a good sign. It was filled by 7pm. Not aware that they take reservations - probably doesn't so good to come early - before 6.15pm.

“Alfresco dining over the sea.”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Recommended by our hotel for great fish, this fantastic restaurant offers out door dining on a pier set over the beach with the sea underneath at high tide.. The service is brilliantly choreographed and highly efficient. The fish is kepy alive down stairs in tanks and is cooked fresh to individual order. There is a decent wine list. The views out to sea and towards the mountains add to the experience.

This is a very busy and very popular restaurant, best to arrive early then for the best tables, book ahead, or be prepared to wait for a table.

We went three times every week during our stay at the Hotel de la Paix, and loved every visit!

“Overhyped??”
Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

This place was recommended to us but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The locals seem to eat here so perhaps they get better service?
The good was okay but I had better at Thanachote on the next pier down. The steamed seabass with black bean sauce was disappointing, watery thin sauce. I liked the pineapple rice but we were almost finished our fish by the time it finally arrived.
It's quite an authentic place but I think it's overhyped and not that great.
