Eaten at Maharaja several times over several years. Consistent good quality and good service. Will go back again and again.

We fancied an Indian and the recommended restaurant in Hua Hin was closed.
From the start we knew we should have just left - limited selection of drinks, took an age to order etc. Popadums were packet ones and burnt, currys all looked and tasted the same (too hot, yet still managing to be bland) despite us ordering a wide range. Evening was topped off by a customers throwing-up in the toilet sink (which is actually in the restuarant) and this being left to waft the smell over to the tables. I hope this review stops at least one person from wasting their money and time.

Before we judge Indian restaurants in Hua Hin it must be remembered that there are very few Indian restaurants within access. We found only two, Taj Mahal and Maharaja in the Hilton Hotel vicinity. Taj Mahal was closed in the afternoon when we visited, and the workers were busy preparing food for the evening maybe or for another order. There were no table around and although the manager invited us to sit, we preferred to leave. The hunger was growing and we saw Maharaja Restaurant barely a few metres away.

The ambience and the decor may not be too great but, remembering what I said ;-) it was pretty good. Red interiros, many wide tables around, and good spacy feel. We tentatively began with samosas and found them good. The rotis and the dals and vegetables were good too and the service was very co-operative and came with never-ending good cheer and warmth. We made this our regular haunt for the couple of days we stayed in Hua Hin. Open till 10.30 at night, as are all shops in that area. Thereafter Hua Hin goes to sleep!

I was skeptical about going to Maharaja after reading its reviews on TA but I got to say the food was actually good. Being Indian I was rather happy with the Indian food I got in this foreign land. Service wasn't the best I agree, but food was definitely a thumbs up. The lassi was to die for (if you like sour lassi like many indians).

Ambience could have been better though as you could clearly see they were trying to fit in a lot of customers. Located a good 3-5min walk away from Hilton.

Food is good, service is fast but ambience can be better, it seems they haven't renovated the same for a very long time.
Food variety is impeccable !
Out of very select Indian Food options in Hua - Hin, this is the safest bet.
