“Very good”

Excellent course although expensive by the time you add caddy and buggy fees which are extra. Greens good and a fair bit of water to negotiate but very well kept.

“Great Golf”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Wonderful course with lots of mountain views and good fairways. Greens can be a bit unpredictable but still a very enjoyable game of golf. The recently opened par 3 is very challenging with many water features - shame the surroundings are ruined by the building of cheap looking little villas all crammed together right next to the course.

“Lives up to the reputation”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We played 4 courses in Hua Hin and two stood out. Black mountain was one of them. The place is luxurious. Very beautiful and excellent amenities. The course is challenging but so nice and pleasant, it takes your mind off playing poorly (if you are doing so like I was). I really enjoyed it. The caddies are very good. Very knowledgable and truly professional. Would go back again! But it was the most expensive of the courses we played so that's the only drawback.

“Two stories of Golf”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

First of all, it is a beautiful course and layout. Our first day there we played with a nice German couple and had a wonderful time. Moved right along and shared some Cohibas on the course. Caddies this day were very helpful and fun. Two days later a completely different situation. Playing with a Swedish couple they were frustrated also by the very slow play. All of us complained to the marshall, but they did not do a thing to speed up play. Part of the problem is here are a couple of guys, who are at best 20 handicaps and playing from the tips! I know many courses that assign you the appropriate tees. Almost 5 and a half hours is WAY too long in that heat and humidity. Caddies were no help at all and sometimes gave the wrong info on putts. Some could barely speak english, so how can they help?
Also with the heat, the carts should have a cooler with ice on them. We bought water and gatorade at the turn, but by 3 holes, they were warm at best. Come on, for these prices, stick a cooler on the carts.

“Challenging yet playable”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Definitely should be on your play list. The course is kept in simply impeccable condition and offers some very challenging holes with great views. Essential to factor in the mountains with every putt, the caddies were great and if you are not used to mountain putting its highly advised to listen to their opinions on the green.
