Description: Rod Fai is a traditional Thai and Seafood restaurant with great food and very friendly staff. Very affordable and unique location in the middle of Hua Hin's busy night market. The restaurant is decorated like the old Hua Hin's Railway Station.

We almost always end up eating here when we are in town. As other posters have mentioned it is chaotic, certainly at the weekend or during public holidays. Dishes can appear somewhat sporadically but when there's no hurry it's not really a problem. Great to watch the food being prepared if you manage to grab a 'front seat'. The food is incredibly tasty and staff are very helpful and accommodating. A great place to spend an hour or two.

“More seafood then you can eat”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Restaurants is a bit chaotic but find a seat and enjoy, you can pick your lobster, I often and I mean often order "river prawns which they bring you by the Kilo. Place is great for family couples or solo seafood lover. Recommend early 6-8pm.

“Yum”
Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

We found this place while walking through the night market. The seafood is displayed on ice on the street and they do the cooking there too. We had the grilled tiger prawns, a steamed snapper & a chicken curry. The food came out pretty quickly & all was tasty. Restaurant is open so you can see them cooking the food in the street and can see the goings on at the market too.

“Several Nights”

we ate at this restaurant on 3 occasions and each toime the food was exceptional, be prepared for a wait as everything is freshly cooked to order, and being Thailand everything is very relaxed, just sit back enjoy the hustle and bustle of the night market and enjoy the freshly cooked seafood once it arrives - it is well worth the wait!

“Excellent seafood in the Night Market”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Ate dinner here twice during our stay in Hua Hin between 11th and 20th April. Right in the middle of the Hua Hin Night Market, where vendors are selling sunglasses, CD's, watches, bags, T-shirts, and all sorts of street food, you will find Rod Fai. The restaurant really has 3 sections - all the cooking is done in the front part where the market is - the seafood is displayed on ice tables and the cooks are using barbeques, grills, hotplates and woks etc in the open air. The second section behind the cooking, is where the restaurant tables are and where you go to eat. The section at the back is for washing up, and cashing up.
We loved the food here. On our first visit, we had Chicken Satay with peanut sauce; Roasted Cashew Nuts, Clams in Curry paste, Chicken Massaman Curry, and barbecued River Prawns (big!). The second time, we had Lobster with garlic and pepper, Tiger Prawns (gigantic!), the same Clams again because they were so delicious, Morning Glory in oyster sauce, and a baked potato and some plain rice. Actually a huge amount of food for only 2 people, but we devoured it all never-the-less! Drank Singa beer and also Lemon Soda which was very nice.
The staff remembered us from one visit to the next - only a few days apart, granted, but this restaurant is VERY busy and they must serve hundreds of people every day.
If you like good seafood, and like to eat in a place with loads of atmosphere and 'buzz' - this is a great place to go. It's fun to see what everyone else is eating around you! There's a good mixture of local Thai people and tourists from all over the world. It's a bit hot and a bit frantic and chaotic, but very entertaining and a true taste of Thailand.
