Devasom Hua Hin Resort
Ranked #1 of 144 Hotels in Hua Hin
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 18, 2013

We chose the Devasom for a three night break to chill out after busy Bangkok. It was the perfect choice. We had a second floor room in the main building with a beautiful view of the sea and the gorgeous pool area. Attention to detail is obvious throughout, with cleanliness top of the list. The room was very large with an amazing bathroom and terrace. Very good facilities and nice touches like fresh fruit in your room on arrival. The beds are large and comfy. The restaurant is a real bonus - wonderful Thai food and service. We stayed on Valentine's Day so could take advantage of the set dinner which was hosted on the main lawn with an abundance of candles and romance. Food was stunning! The small resort is a taxi ride or free hotel transfer to Hua Hin (which is worth a visit but we didn't want to spend too long away from the Devasom!).
Would certainly choose the Devasom again if we were back in the area.

The Devasom Hua Hin is an intimate boutique hotel a short car ride away from central Hua Hin. The hotel staff was welcoming and helped us arrange visits into town and local tours. Our room, in the main hotel, was private, beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and sported a magnificent view from the balcony. There was also nice attention to detail like a beautiful fruit tray in our room upon arrival and high quality toiletries (I liked the soap so much I purchased a couple of bars at check-out.) The hotel was very quite so if you are looking for action you are probably better off at one of the larger hotels or one that is closer to town but if peace and relaxation are what you’re seeking I highly recommend the Devasom.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel, a little out of Hua Hin city but next to all the big chains like Sheraton etc. This place was outstanding in the quality of room offered - it was superbly clean, had a colonial atmosphere with all modern conveniences and the food was fantastic. The breakfast was particularly worthy of mention - the fresh jams and preserves were to die for! Even the quality of the Muesli served was very good. We got excellent service from all the hotel staff and even at odd hours our every single request was adhered to with a smile! The beach may not be very big outside, but the sea laps the steps at high tide and the pool is good too. The hotel is around 20 minutes from the city centre and the hotel conveniently runs a shuttle three times a day. This is a place you must stay in if you are looking at having a quiet holiday and de-stress from the hustle and bustle of a modern lifestyle. Most of the rooms overlook the ocean and do select the cottages if you want direct ocean views. Worth every bit of money and in my opinion is one of the best places to be in Hua Hin, if you are fed up of chain hotels and are looking to stay at a boutique place with loads of character and warm personalised attention!

Room Tip: Go for the cottages if you want spectacular ocean views.

Stayed at Devasom for two nights with a girlfriend to get away from Bangkok and we were very surprised by how elegantly the hotel was done. We loved our room most of all. Having a mini bar included in the room price is a great idea because there is nothing around the hotel at all!

We spent most of our time relaxing by the pool. Not much of Beach by the hotel and the pool bigger on the website. Luckily most people seemed to be heading out instead of chilling at the hotel so it was like our little sanctuary.

We ate mostly at the bistro and food was reasonablely priced and nice. My Tom yam noodle soup was one of the best I ever had in Thailand(spicy!!).

The hotel is 20 minutes away from the heart of Hua Hin and there is a shuttle service. We went to the night market one night by the shuttle and came home by tuk tuk taxi(250bt).

Book this hotel if you are looking for a quiet and romantic place to stay.

Me and my other half booked this hotel because of the peaceful and quietness that we can get in a hotel in Hua Hin. We didn't even bother going to the night market, we stayed in the hotel for 3 days and 2 nights.

Check in/out: Once leaving the taxi, the helpers immediately come and pick up your luggage and escort you to the lobby. They served you with welcome drinks, I notice different guest will get different drinks which is good. It took about 10 minutes or so while we waited for them to take us to the room. Check out process took a little longer as expected as they need to fully check whether the room was ok or not.

Room: We stayed at the sea side deluxe, the room is very spacious, the decoration is very stylish. Not the usual Eastern oriental theme, but more in European style. We were not able to get a room with a king size bed. The housekeeping push the two beds together for us but during sleeping we still find its a bit uncomfortable. The bed is kind of hard, for those who don't like to sleep on hard beds they might find it uncomfortable. The rooms were kind of full so I had no other choices. Mini bar and snacks are complimentary. We call the housekeeping for towels, I've called twice on 2 days on the housekeeping line but no one answers. Then i changed to call the front desk and the lady picked up the phone immediately. They handle our request in promptly.

Massage: The masseuse comes into your room with individual mats and clothes for massage. I've tried a lot of massage in Thai and I have to save this is an average experience. If you don't like to leave the hotel then this is the way to go if you need some extra relaxation.

Facilities: We had breakfast/lunch/dinner during our stay in the hotel, the restaurant has an indoor area and an outdoor area so you can pick whatever area that you like. For breakfast I have to say there are not so much variety of choices maybe because its the number of rooms that are in this hotel. Waitress will ask you if you want to have Omelet or other kinds of eggs the way you like to be done. Dinner was very good, especially the carbonara that we ordered, best dish out of the 2 nights we had dinner there.

Pool: The infinity pool is very good when looking at it at the first sight but the pool size is a bit small, for those who really want to swim may need to make couple of more rounds.

Beach: This was something I was really looking forward to when coming to Hua Hin but turn out to be a bit disappointment. Not saying its the hotel's fault but its just the way the beach is. The tides were very high, you can only see the beach from around 9am - 1pm during our stay. We wanted to see the beach more but unfortunately that's the only time you can actually walked down there.

Room Tip: Stay here if you like privacy and stay away from the crowd, dining experience is good especially the...

Beautiful boutique hotel approx 10-15 mins from the centre of Hua Hin.
Magnificent staff and food with a stunning colonial atmosphere, this small resort is quiet and only boasts approx. 18 rooms and villas.
The pool looks directly onto the ocean below with only a few steps onto the sand.
Total relaxation and very romantic for couples both the villas on the beach or suits overlooking the pool are stunning.
We stayed in room 34 which looks directly down the centre of the resort and 2 floors up with balcony and day lounge.
If you take the villas by the pool choose either the two that look straight over the 0caen,worth the extra money if on your honeymoon or want total privacy and relaxation.
If you walk back down the driveway of the Devasom approx 300mts, and cross the main road at the end, [Its four lanes so be careful]. there is a small laundry to your right and a massage shop next to it called Hallelujah. Beautiful staff and stunning massages for 1hr, approx. 250 BHT totally recommend. If you come back over the road you will see a set of small shops in a type of u shape right in front of you, walk over to the bright pink restaurant called Lilawadee Restaurant. Fantastic food and beautiful staff.
We had dinner here and back at the resort of course which was magnificent overlooking the gardens and pool and then out over the ocean.
Thankyou to all the staff at the Devasom for making our stay with you magnificent.

Room Tip: Seaside Villas or room 34 or overlooking the pool from the 1st floor.

I stayed here as recently as last week after photographing a 3 day wedding (18-20 hour days) at the Sheraton a few hotels down. My first trip to Thailand included traveling around the south and teaching English, all the while sleeping on the floors of people's homes. The Sheraton Blue Lagoon was far too corporate for me and so secluded that you wouldn't be able to tell if you were in California or Thailand. I pulled into Devasom and was so incredibly charmed by its beauty as well as the staff. I spent two nights here, completely transfixed on the hotel and beauty of its simplicity. Those of you who are leaving negative reviews are likely looking for service and amenities - yes, you do need to take a taxi into town, but this hotel is geared towards quiet getaways. I had a thai massage in my room and the service of the staff and restaurant was provided late and quickly. I had a chance to chat with the owner a few times and was really amazed by the grace and service. Will definitely be coming back here.

Room Tip: Stayed in the hotel portion, top floor. Quiet as can be. Those who like firm mattresses will sleep w...
