This review has been a bit late in coming, I'm not sure why, perhaps I've been a little lazy.
Anyway the Sundance Hua Hin was one of the better value hotels I could find in Hua Hin. The rooms were comfortable, although the bathroom in my Superior Room was rather small, but I've grown to expect that in this price range throughout Thailand.
I don't remember anything special about Sundance, but I don't remember anything that would cause me disappointment either. The breakfast was good, the staff didn't speak very good English, but funnily enough I was in Thailand and didn't speak the best Thai either, so who is to blame?!
The pool was a welcome feature, though the spa wasn't working when I was there. To their credit, I did see technicians come and work on it though, not sure if they managed to finish fixing it as I was only there for two nights.
The hotel is not right in the centre of town, but it is still walking distance (behind the San Paulo Hospital on Phetchkasem Road) to the night market, railway station, restaurant and beach areas. It's a fair walk, but nothing too bad. You can always try catching a songthaew if you're feeling lazy, and you'll be laughing if you have a scooter.
This isn't a resort, but it's a clean and nice hotel, close enough to the centre of town, for a reasonable price. The website is currently making it out to be some kind of "wellness resort", maybe because it's attached to a hospital, but really it was just a normal hotel when I was there.
