Asara Villa & Suite
Ranked #17 of 144 Hotels in Hua Hin
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 7, 2014

My wife, her friend, our baby, and I checked in the 2-bedroom pool villa for a night. We were expecting a large private pool to relax. However, the pool was so small at about 2 x 2.5 meters. Only our baby could use the pool. The pool was also not so cleaned with leaves and dusts in the water.
The room size was ok and well-decorated. However, the other unpleasant experience was their complimentary afternoon tea. We were all excited since most hotels do not offer complimentary afternoon teas. We had a light lunch hoping to save some space for the afternoon tea. We arrived at around 2:45 PM but was told that the afternoon tea starts at 3 PM. While waiting, we saw some table getting a tray of breads, cones, and cupcakes and thought we would have gotten the same. To our surprised, the waitress came to our table at exactly 3 PM and asked what kind of tea we wanted. We ordered Thai ice tea and Thai ice coffee. About 5 minutes later, she returned with a very small tidbits for each of us. The waitress then came back with our tea orders. We waited and waited until I had to ask where is the complimentary afternoon tea set. To our surpised again, our complimentary afternoon tea is just the tea. I then pointed to the set of breads at the table beside and the waitress said that those had to be ordered.
Staying in a non-Western chain hotel, there can be lost in translation. In a normal Western hotel, the definition of afternoon tea means a whole set of breads, scones, cupcakes, etc. But at this hotel, it's just a glass of "tea". At the end, we had to drive into the city to fill our stomachs. What an experience!
The hotel's location is just by the small beachfront. However, you would definitely need a car if you were to go to other places since the hotel is situated far from the city center. Overall, it was just an average hotel to relax.
The check-in and check-out wasn't that efficient.

Dear Journey_Delight,

Regardless of that you had to endure a very unsatisfying experience, we would like to thank you for taking the time to write us a thorough and constructive review. We take our guests' satisfaction very seriously and therefore really appreciate responses such as yours in order to improve our services here at Asara. On behalf of the team here at Asara, I would like to express our sincerest apologies that the resort did not meet your expectations.

I will review your comments with our executive housekeeper and reinforce our policies regarding pool cleanliness. In terms of our F&B, we will make sure that our staff are more flexible and attentive to guests to make sure that all of our guests are fully informed about our afternoon tea and are served the same items at the same time. While our resort is a stand-alone Thai brand, it does not excuse us from being lost in translation and I will take considerate steps to rectify and prevent any staff-to-guest communication issues.

Thank you again for reviewing us and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

Most sincerely,

Preecha Yarangwong

If looking for the luxury pool villa resort, in my opinion, this hotel is not the good choice. The staffs are very nice and the landscape of the hotel is lovely. However, the facilities in the room are not ok especially the pool in the room which is too small and not so clean. When I check-in the room on the second day in pool villa, I and my kids jump in the little pool. I could smell unclean so I come up to clean myself in the bathroom. Then I notice the wet on the floor is yellow when I clean it, I could see the yellow stain on white towels. Afterthat, I and my kids never play in the small pool in the room again.
If hotel improve the clean of the room and take serious for the pool in the room, it could be great. Otherwise, I am recommended that the suite room is better in which much cheaper and room size is the same.

Room Tip: Suite room is ok and better than pool villa (compare with the money that you spent).

I was stayed for 2 night with pool villa#124,
Good point;
1. excellent bedroom and out door view
2. Great for listener, can connect the ipod/ iphone in room for favorite song.
3. main pool, sea view and beach condition are great. 4. Staff are friendly and alway smile.
5. Good choice for rain shower in out door (there are bath & shower in room)

Bad;
1.pool in villa is too small, water not so clear, cool and not circulate.

2. A lot of mosquito made us trouble to stay out door in night time.
3. Breakfast line is not so much choice and average taste (compare to Evason as i ever visit in the same period last year).
4. TV program too less and not clear for signal, alway interrupt.
Recommend;
1. Sea view villa or villa#10x must be greater than #11x
2. Lunch outside is better

It takes a while to get to Asara Villa & Suite from Bangkok, which can be tiring after a long flight but the journey is not particulalry unpleasant. On arrival we were warmly greeted and were upgraded, which was a lovely surprise.

Our room was excellent - two big beds, cool outdoor bed, nice lounge area and a lovely bathroom, with oudoor and indoor showers. Our room was always clean and tidy and the towels were replaced regularly.

The outdoor areas are very well done and it's nice that the hotel is not a high-rise, like many of its local competitors. Two big pool areas, good loungers and gardens are maybe let down a bit by tired beach towels.

The staff were always very friendly, though there was varying English-language ability, with any confusion met with good humour (which should be considered in the context of our derisory attempts at Thai...).

Hua Hin itself is nothing to write home about. It's a bit "trippy", with standard holiday-suited restaurants, which generally lacked imagination and/or class. The beach and the coast are nice, but it's not snorkelling or diving territory, which is a shame - we took a 300km trip to Koh Thalu to see some good fish action.

Stayed with my three children in a pool villa. Pool water was not clear and grout on pool floor stained the bottom of our feet took days to get off. Breakfast was very good and staff very helpful.
We go to Hua Hin for the beach so was a little disappointed that there was not much of a beach at this location we ended up driving to the south end of Hua Hin. Bring mosquito repellent as the villa was swarming with them. Villa was not cheap and expected better. If you don't drive a fancy car don't expect a car park space close to reception as security tell you to park further down. Not good.

A wonderful hotel which feels like paradise once inside the complex. It is a longish journey from Bangkok airport but do not let this put you off, I don't travel well, but it was well worth it. Despite the hotel being on a main road (like most Hua Hin hotels) once you are on the complex you are in paradise. We were initially in a standard room which was lovely, outside shower etc but we could hear local building works. After speaking to guest relations we were upgraded free of charge to a pool villa which was wonderful and we could not hear anything except for nature. I would recommend booking this room type.

The staff were great, so helpful and kind. Breakfast was great, as was all of the food, but food in general is a bit expensive. We ate out every night and got lunch most of the time from the Macro over the road from the complex.

Hua Hin itself is fab, a big town/city feel 10minutes from the hotel (free shuttle bus or £4 taxi/tuk tuk). We wondered around the night market and town most nights finding wonderful food and great bars. Don't miss the Thai massage either (£5 for an hour, and cheaper than a cocktail or two!) we really liked the Pink Lotus just down from the clock tower.

We will definitely be back! We loved Hua Hin and the Asara. We spent our last two days in Bangkok, don't bother, enjoy paradise before going home rather than a busy, polluted city.
