This resort is one of the very few who actually portray pictures online identical to the real deal. We loved every single day and night at Asara Villa and Suite - from start to finish. The Staff were the most hospitable I have ever experienced. The food was great too, especially the Sunday Breakfasts. The Villas are spacious and oh, so clean. You have the feel of being in the rain forest with the lush growth around the villas. We stayed in the Pool villas which was amazing as both the children and adults had a cooling dip every morning and evening - very refreshing indeed. Asara have shuttle services to Hua Hin town which is a quaint place with strategically placed markets and restaurants - not over-crowded. The Restaurants have fabulously cheap and tasty food especially seafood. Can't wait to visit again this year. Highly recommended.

Ok, so its a little out of town, about 7 minutes by car depending on traffic, but the property and service makes up for this and if you can get the right rate, its a great place to stay.

A long property, so if your down one end, as we were, its a nice refreshing walk to the sea front side and breakfast, but a stroll does one wonders in the cool of the morning.

Large king size bed, and all expected amenities. Our large room overlooked the inland pool (as opposed to the beachside pool). Own balcony.

So the toilet does not have a door, but you can close off the bathroom area from the bedroom area and if privacy is your thing, just close that door.

Staff and service first rate, from check in, with towels and cold drink, to check out with a goodby cold drink. Maintence great also, our room safe failed,(low batteries) and they were there within minutes to fix it.

Great breakfast, plenty on offer and well staffed and they get to know your preferences. My wife asked fo camomile tea first day, and for the next four days, no sooner had she sat down her tea was in front of her.

Pool side, same great service no sooner were you heading for a chair and the towel man was there setting you up.

Free shuttles (out and back) to the town and market area each evening.

Small Gym, free computer use, free use of DVD's and books. Terrific gardens and well looked after.

Own beach front, and the sea here is quite clean, I saw many guests go for a swim and no outside vendors.

Morning exercise routine if you want it (6.30am) and afternoon feature (cooking, noodle making etc)

Perhaps the only downside during our stay was the first two days the place was near empty so little atmosphere, but the last two days near to full, but still ample room to move around without the feeling of being cramped.

Overall a very clean and efficiently run property, good staff and all eager to ensure your stay is to your satisfaction.

PS. Had an early morning call at 6.45am, hotel operator didn't want to put it through as I would still be sleeping and they didn't want to wake me. Now that's caring about your guests.

From the moment you arrive at the Asara, the staff's welcoming and 'can-do' attitude is such a pleasure compared to other hotels. Our villa was large and good value for money through hotel.com and the plunge pool larger than most and at just the right temperature to cool off in. Complimentary bottled water provided plentifully everyday was a nice surprise. Much of our week however was spent on the hotel's beach which being right next to the infinity pool was just great so that we could watch our daughter in the pool whilst relaxing at the same time. At least 2 beach and pool staff for the few couples and families staying at the same time as us (the hotel seemed about a third full) meant that the towels were usually on our beds before we even reached them.

We tended not to have lunch as there was the usual 5 star spread at breakfast and complimentary afternoon tea with sandwiches and other made to order savouries and these easily kept us going until cocktail happy hour before dinner.

Although considerably more expensive than eating out in town, we ate in at the various restaurants in the hotel - the singer and pianist in Kampu by design restaurant were very good to listen to and the food excellent. £60-£100 was the cost each evening for the 3 of us including beer/wine/soft drinks/service/vat and so no different from eating out in the UK, but we felt a better quality of food (very fresh and great prawns and crab).

On the night when we took the hotels free drop-off and pick up shuttle into town, dinner was £20 (without a bottle of wine) but the food was nowhere near as good and without the excellent service you receive at the hotel.

Overall and as you would expect from what we've written so far, we would thoroughly recommend a staying at this relaxing eco-hotel. Theres not a great deal to do for children, but then I don't think it sells itself as doing so. The thai cooking, origami and galland lessons however in the afternoons were very useful in the afternoons if a gap needed to be filled.

Spent a great long weekend at this property. Ben, the GM, and Khun Joy went out of their way to make us feel special. We traveled with our four month old daughter and she was adored by all the staff. We were provided with a free baby playard and mosquito netting which was ideal and we loved the plunge pool and shade and plush seating offered throughout the resort. The breakfast was wonderful with additional Thai and Asian selections on offer during the weekend. We hope to make a return visit to this property. Check out their promotions online too for the best deal.

We stayed 10 nights at the Asara and really loved it. Suites were very comfortable and the facilities really work to facilitate a relaxing stay. It's not perfect, we had to ask on a few occasions for stock items for the room, but that aside nothing was too much trouble. Ben, the General Manager is a very good host and the resort is a reflection of his passion and insight.

Since we do not share the same point of view I can only tell you that for my villa:
Location: far from Hua Hin (5 km north) but good if you want quiet area,
Rooms: modern and well designed,
Bathrooms: large with very nice outside shower,
Swimming pool: Main one beautiful ,
Private pool: Useless and cold if no direct sun so choose your villa well,
Food: Great breakfast, lunch and diner not good and no flavour for the international food,
Staff: Friendly but very Thai (apologize all the time),
Beach: Inexistant but sea is not nice in Hua Hin (Jelly Fishes and dirty water),

We've been traveling to Thailand for many years mainly to the islands on both coasts but this year we wanted to be able to travel by road from BKK as we have a two year old and the cost of flights and the hassle of transfers from London can frustrate.

Our expectations of the hotel and location were based on Hua Hin not being a first choice location but to be fair the Asara is in a great location in HH I.e. Far enough to be out of the town but close enough to make the journey into town a breeze. It also meant that the beach in front of the hotel seemed almost private.

So the good and the bad of the Asara. This may be an unfair comparison as we stayed at the Aleenta, north of Phuket, in 2010 and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a huge room/villa and the Aleenta is in the middle of nowhere on an incredible beach. Where the Asara didn't match the Aleenta was on the food at lunch and in the evenings. Aside from the Miang Kam the food was standard Thai fare that I would expect to get in a Thai restaurant in the UK. It was fine but we went out every night bar the night we arrived as the food was better in town. Breakfast at the hotel was good but also what I expected at a hotel at this price.

The service in reception and the restaurants was first rate and the staff were excellent. The guys looking after the pools and sun beds weren't overly helpful or attentive and the staff cleaning the rooms were very friendly but somewhat inconsistent with cleaning and providing towels and toiletries.

The room was great and very spacious and the pool was perfect for us and perfect for our two year old.

I'd definitely recommend the Asara but our stay (11 nights) was possibly a little long based on what we are used to. Overall 7.5 out of 10 but we are pretty harsh critics and it would have been an 8.5 of the food had been better in the hotel and we could have stayed in rather than spending 400+ baht every day on travel in and out of HH for dinner
