Newest hotel in Hatyai, so what else? It is clean and comfortable, and most importantly CHEAP!

Many of you may know Tune Hotel is under AirAsia Group, so everything is chargeable and optional...

Make sure you check both Tune and Airasiago websites to compare prices... I booked Airasiago and it was much cheaper...

12hrs aircon is more than enough if you don't plan to stay in the hotel the whole day.

the Front desk is very friendly and helpful.

Luggage can be stored for free for short period, longer period at THB40/pc/day.

First stay at a Tune franchise. For the uninitiated, it is another money spinner for Tony Fernandez, owner of Air Asia, who has added hotels to his travel business. The concept is as you would expect from a company that has a budget airline as a model. You get a basic room and you add everything else that you deem necessary for your comfort - for a price of course.

Agoda was doing a deal for their rooms for Baht 760 a night so we thought we'd give it a try for 2. Well let's start with parking. There is secure parking but not sure there were enough. Lucky for us we came by bike and the guard was quite obliging and let us park in a car bay. Check in was smooth and we were given towels, a TV remote and toiletries.

Getting into the room was a bit tricky. The key reader was working but it was mated to an old door that wasn't. Bathroom was clean with great shower. Beds were comfy and sheets clean. Positive notes.

The negatives? Other than the telly, the room is devoid of anything that makes it welcoming, being closer I imagine to a prison cell. White with grey paint and windows that can't be fully opened making the room feel, well, a cell. And no accessible wi-fi in the room despite having paid for it.

So no-frills hotel tried now. I guess if you're on holiday its not the place to stay at. Cheap but definitely not cheerful. Plastic flowers (you could rent these I guess) could have made all the difference.

I've seen the worst of the worst in Hat Yai and to say I wasn't enthused getting stuck in the city during my most recent trip was an understatement.

I just happened to find this Tune Hotel via tripadvisor/hotels.com and booked it an hour prior to arrival. Although there was a small problem when checking in (because of hotels.com), the receptionist was very kind, patient, and helpful, and spoke English with perfect fluency.

The room is large (but a bit bare) and clean! That's right, clean! Although bare, the hotel is still on the stylish side and is great if you are young and don't want to spend a lot of money. I purchased a room with a fan, ac, wifi, queen mattress, TV etc. for a bit over 700 bhat. You can buy a cheaper room and simply add on what you'd like in addition.

It's also in a great location and adjacent to other hotels such as the Sakura hotel. So happy I chose this hotel after having so many terrible experiences with hotels and hostels in Hat Yai.

Room Tip: hotels.com offers awesome discounts on rooms. You can purchase a cheap room and just add on the services you'd like if you don't want to pay for the whole sha-bang.
