“A good hotel in a small town.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I will consider Hatyai as a small town if compare with other very hot travel spot in Thailand. The hotel is located in some distance to the shopping area of Hatyai, about 4~500m. I stay at the Sakura Grad View, which is the better & newer hotel. The good side is the hotel reception can speak english/mandarin well, helpful & kind staff along my stay. The breakfast is average but have many different type of foods. The room we stay big & facing the railway station side, but in some distance, so no train sound disturb. In room Wifi signal is poor & slow. Overall a good hotel & might stay there again if visiting Hatyai next time.

Sakura located in a city center in Hatyai, Thailand. There are many hotels over there, and most of the hotels price are very reasonable. Tourists may consider many other hotels too.
There are 2 Sakura's which is Sakura Wing and Sakura Grand View. Sakura Grand View is good compare to Sakura Wing. We stayed one night at Sakura Wing, where the bed is not good and its very dull. However, Grand View looks very good (Outlook) and the room also was very good, it has more space and facilities like Television, toilets, Wifi and etc. We took 2 rooms for 2 nights They have connecting rooms. The price is very reasonable, we can choose rooms with breakfast or without breakfast. The Location is very good, where its just 10 minutes walking distance to shopping malls, night markets and massage centers. Also, the tuk-tuk stand is just at the back of the Sakura Hotel (In front of Tune Hotel). Tourist can take tuk-tuk to travel to nearby locations or attractions, especially songkla. Overall the hotel was good. But however, the staff is sakura is very unfriendly, not all but some. Also, most of them doesn't know to speak English. So, tourist be ready for all... :)

I stayed here for 6 days.Smooth check in.We booked deluxe room which is spacious with a big LCD TV. 5 mins walk to Robinson shopping mall.I love the breakfast here.Try to get d higher floor which give you a better view of Hatyai(highest 16 floor)but the wifi in room is poor.Across the road on the left you can try the chinese thai restaurant, not bad.Overall,i would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: higher floor for a better view

Not a bad hotel for the price. They have a fridge in the rooms and the tv is good. Breakfast Is good for the money but make sure you ask to see the rooms first as some of the views are not great and some of the rooms smell of cigarette smoke from the previous occupants. Staff were pleasant enough but it was difficult at times to be understood.

We came to this hotel via Malaysia. The hotel was quite busy with tourist. The room was very large but the bath room needed better cleaning. The price was very cheap but everything was cheap in haadyai. Yes, I would recommend this hotel.

Recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be well located, quite central to Lee Gardens Plaza and Thanon Thamanoovithe, maybe a 5 minute walk. The hotel and its rooms are a little dated but not too shabby, albeit the bathroom looked a bit 'tired'. It may be desirable to check which room you are going to be allocated before accepting it. Carpets are starting to look quite grubby. There also seems to be no differentiation between smoking / non-smoking rooms, whereas in some hotels, all bedrooms now are non-smoking. Mention has been made of miserable check-in staff but I have to say I found them OK, maybe it's how you treat them, OK they are not as cheery as those at the Tune Hote, but they are OK, and very helpful. There is a good sized tewo-level underground secure car park at the side of the hotel (free for guests) and the hotel has its own restaurant and an on-site massage parlour with room service available. Room service food is also available, the menu is quite extensive and reasonably priced.

The rooms are spacious and have a relaxed feel to them with beige decor and light woods. Furnishings are of a good standard with a good sized wardrobe with ample hangers, a large rooms safe, large fridge, dressing table and chair, small table and two chairs and a suitcase / shoe storage cupboard. Lighting in the room is also tasteful with a standard lamp and table lamps on each of the bed-sdie tables. There is a good sized TV, drinking water (2 bottles daily) . The bed is either King Size or two singles. The King Size was OK for me but some may find the mattresses quite hard, the pillows are also very firm. The air-con is OK and not too intrusive in terms of sound at low settings. Bathrooms are OK size wise and showers are over a bath with a pull across curtain as opposed to a shower cubicle. Water flow is good and hot. There are some limited toiletries in the bathroom (soap, shampoo, shower cap and cotton buds).

In terms of rates I actually found the walk-in rate better than both Agoda or the voucher seller rates at the border (THB 1,350 and THB 1,110 respectively versus THB 1000 walk-in) but this may vary according to time of year and how much advance notice you have for your stay.

Positives
+ Reasonable central location (about 5 minutes walk to Odean Shopping Mall)
+ Quiet area of town
+ Quite close to rail and bus stations
+ Free early check-in if room free and cleaned
+ Opening windows if your prefer fresh air and no AC
+ Good size TV with reasonable range of channels
+ Breakfast included
+ Spacious relaxing rooms
+ Housekeeping staff friendly and helpful
+ Wifi throughout hotel
+ Room Safe
+ Free drinking water (take note that this is for the 2 glass bottles - the plastic bottles are chargeable)
+ 4 glasses in each room
+ On site and secure off-road parking
+ On-site massage parlour

Negatives
- Wifi can be VERY slow in room
- Air Con does not seem the most efficient with medium to high fan settings required to cool room (which then gets noisy)
- Only 2 lifts servicing 15 floors - waits can be long
- No differentiation between smoking / non-smoking rooms
- Beds and pillows may be too firm for some
- Only two pillows in room
- Curtains let in a bit too much light so room not very dark in mornings
- No tea / coffee facilities in room
- No hair-dryer
- No iron / ironing board in room
- Bathrooms a bit tired
- Hotel clearly ageing a bit

Room Tip: Away from lifts to avoid noise. Check to see the room you are being offered if possible.

Enjoyed our stay at the sakura hotel. Nice location and nice enough rooms. Staff english was a bit lacking. They also took our room service order and then when I called 45 mins later they had lost it, that was a let down and why I only gave 3 stars.
