Rooms spacious, gardens and pool area lovely, nice choice of breakfast. A little way from the centre but this not a problem. It is walkable or get the hotel to arrange transport. Centre is only 5 minutes.

Pros:- The gardens and the pool are glorious.
Cons:- The rooms are tiny, empty and NOISY. The air con, toilet extraction fan & the fridge all make the room RUMBLE. When all three are on together it's like being inside a Bangkok Industrial Laundry. Every front door and bathroom door in this venue SLAMS, so there are constant sonic booms reverberating throughout the entire venue. The place is an acoustic nightmare! As the room has one small cupboard with two unusable drawers, your suitcases have to be left open on the floor = room untidy and awkward. No-where for clothes to dry so everyone is forced to put chairs out on the little front verandah and drape their clothing. You get a voucher for a free dinner at their Restaurant. You'll notice people don't eat there. This is because the food is dreadful. (Surprisingly their buffet breakfast was bearable). The only bigger rip-off than their Tourist desk is the tuk-tuks waiting at the end of the driveway. Avoid both. As others have said before me - it's too far out of town, reception staff friendly but only speak Thai. Our 3 days there was 2 days too long. I am rarely moved to submit such a negative review, but La Luna does not make the grade.

Room Tip: Rm 125 and 217 are the ONLY 'pool view' rooms with a view. All the other 'pool view'...

This is a really relaxing resort, great clean bungalows with air con, fridges and TV. Also a fantastic pool to chill out in. There was a lot of choice at breakfast and the staff were friendly. Location wise it's a bit out of the way really, and not surrounded by much. there isn't anywhere nearby decent to eat, so be prepared to travel into Chang rai centre (20 min walk) or get a tuktuk. Good for a couple of nights but I wouldn't stay longer.

Bungalows were clean, quiet and spacious, but the grounds are the real draw, with tropical foliage everywhere. Had no problems with wifi. Staff was courteous, attentive and helpful, and while I read one complaint about the breakfast, both I and my wife really liked the buffet. Although it's about a 20+ minute walk to the center of town, tuk tuks were readily available if you desired them (we enjoyed the walk). Altogether a nice quiet retreat, great for couples and families, probably not so great for singles who want to party.

My wife and I spent two nights in the LaLuna Hotel Chiang Rai before joining a tour. Reception was efficient and pleasant. Despite renovations at the side of the property we were impressed with the grounds. The place is alive with exotic plants and flowers often massed to produce maximum effect. Pathways meander through this setting leading to rooms and the excellent pool. After an initial problem with our room door we were shown to another room which was spacious and well appointed. Breakfast and dinner were served in different places but each was more than adequate. The reception lounge is a nice place to relax and view the orchids in the garden.
For modest cost this was a great place to spend a few days. The walk to the town centre took about 15 minutes but taxis/tuktuks are inexpensive.

Room Tip: Rooms around the pool seemed a good option although noise might intrude.

Amazingly enough, the pictures shown on the site are just as it is in real life.
The bungalows were nestled amongst stunning native foliage, the swimming pool was crystal clear and the buffet breakfast was delicious.
And if it interests you, it's less than 2kms from the new Central Plaza Mall and close to the airport.
