i just loved the awe of the river - sitting and looking up and down early morn, mid day, evening was all inspiring. Everyone was friendly and helpful also, could have enjoyed longer.

I have been to Chiang Saen four time now! Every time I go to the North of Thailand, I try to head here and spend a night. The old temple ruins are located within the city proper and are strewn about all over the place. At night on the banks of the mighty Mekong is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a simple vendor dinner. Have a drink; watch the sun set over the mountains of Burma.

An ancient temple with a uniquely spiritual feel. Unlike many of the tourist traps of Thailand, it offers a sense of spirituality, calmness and peace. As theThais say," Bao-bao, sabai-sabai".

See the old temple of the past over 1,000 years, and an art of Chiang Saen style

Hired a car in Chiang Rai for 3 days and used Chiang Rai as our base.
Drove up to Chiang Saen only 60 Kms from Chiang Rai. Had a look at the ruins of the old walls and visited their museum. Golden Triangle(Sop Ruak) is only a short distance further up the road. Need a day for this one lots more to see and do!
