Tip 1: Basically if you visit chiang rai, you will need to hire a driver or a tuk tuk driver to bring you around because there are no form of public transport.

All the temples are not easily accessed by foot. I suggest you have a driver to bring you around.

Tip 2: its not the most fantastic temple compare to Wat Arun. But it has its own beauty. It has a very well-maintained garden and the atmosphere is serene.

Tip 3: please speak softly when you visit the temple. It is also free to enter and take pictures.

Tip 4: if you havent seen the emerald buddha at the grand palace in Bangkok then you can find the replica here. It looks exactly the same.

Tip 5: we went there around 4.30pm in the afternoon and the temple was emptied without any tourist. If you want to avoid any crowds, go around evening time.

This temple did hold once the beautiful Emerald Buddha that is now in Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok. You will still find a great copy here. There is also a museum with lots of Buddhas from different times and ethnical backgrounds. A very friendly monk will explain you in a nice mixture of languages.

Go there and light a candle - Buddha also takes prayers from non-buddhists ! And then do some Photoshooting - this is the kind of pictures you want to bring home

Beautiful temple, too bad the emerald Buddah had to be moved to protect it. Not to be missed.

Right in the center of town, has a temple with very beuatiful Naga's and other stone carvings that are all guilt in gold in the typical Thai Style.

A beautiful temple complex, once home to the Emerald Buddha (now in Bangkok), and now features a jade Buddha to represent it. The temple is stunning and in a very peaceful setting so its a nice place to sit and relax for a while. There is also a free museum with lots of Buddhist artefacts. The English information isn't extensive, but you can see different styles and get a bit of information on what the different objects are used for.

Really and truly, the tour guide seemed to be very into talking about it...and from what I heard, the temple is awesome. Was too tired and hot that day...so it was sort of wasted on me.
