I personally enjoyed this.small museum. It felt like it was really supporting the people and with cabbages and condoms restaraunt downstairs as well. (Not as good as the one in Bangkok but the same principle so I always support). Wish we'd gone on day one and booked our tours through the museum but maybe others will look first. Definately go if you plan a trip to a village.

We found this little museum was a great introduction to the story of the Hill Tribes and glad we did it before our day trip. The video explains the history and a look around the museum is also worthwhile.

One area is dedicated to the history of the opium trade (once the main income of the hill tribes) and there is a very good timeline of the opium story represented by different coloured poppys which represent different languages.

We thought for a little independent museum this was well worth the visit.

If you are in CR and have the time, check out this small museum, but don't expect too much. It's useful to clear up who's who in the hill tribe department, see a few artifacts, and squeeze the green pig of approval (you'll have to go and see what I mean). It's 50 Baht, so not much, and you get a free tea at the Cabbages & Condoms Restaurant on the ground floor. Final verdict: No big loss if you skip it, but worth the 45 mins if you happen to go.

This little museum provides a nice window into the Hill Tribe peoples, supports them and serves as an outlet for their handicrafts - all well done and useful. They are poor peoples and somewhat marginalized, and this museum spotlights their culture - very interesting. There is also a section on their role in the historical opium trade in the Golden Triangle

If you are interested in the culture and history of the Hill Tribes then this is nice little museum. It has interesting artifacts and explains the history and origins of the tribes. The gift shop has quality weavings and original items for purchase that help support the tribes.
