“A great place to hang out”

Basic rooms but clean and with good fan and hot water in en suite bathroom. Some of the staff speak a little English and are helpful. Room cleaned daily and clean towels daily. A nice outside covered area (with wifi) to sit, drink, socialize, read - and, as it is off the main road, it is very quiet and relaxing. And only a few minutes walk away from the local bus station and the night market

Arriving late in Chiang Rai at a Friend, who took me to this Guesthouse. It is nicely located off a busy road which has bars & Restaurants. It was late at night and although Thai was spoken, it felt very welcoming. I took a basic room, enough space for two persons. With hot water and a fan, for 220 Thai Baht a night, which was a bargain. This time of year, no air con or fan is required. But if you wanted for an extra 100 baht you could get an air con room. There are also larger rooms for a slightly higher price. But my stay was very pleasant in a comfortable bed, with hot showers. There is Car parking space in a large compound, with facilities for sitting our doors, using wifi and getting breakfast, superb value in a peaceful setting.

Room Tip: Depending on the time of year, I was in the winter so no air con required in December. Some noise f...

Feels quite like a YMCA hostel. Rooms are fine and it has internet and hot showers (allbeit only at certain times). Would stay here again...

It's very cheap (if you choose the basic option) and you obviously get what you pay for. The clean room had 2 beds, a bathroom with semi-hot water (I’ve experienced way colder “hot” showers!) and wifi (although it didn’t quite stretch to the room itself but would have been adequate in the more expensive rooms).
The only problem was the beds themselves – they were terrible, every time I rolled over I almost fell out of bed and probably woke the next room up with the banging against the wall. However, at £4 a night, you can’t complain too much!!!

This is a budget accomdation (they quoted us 250 baht) so you can't expect much. However, we left after looking at a room (one of the only places we did that) due to the foul smell of the room.

We stayed here for two nights, got their details from the Lonely Planet. We stayed in one of their expensive rooms (500 baht) and it was fine, but some of the cheaper rooms looked a bit grotty. Our room was big, clean, had aircon and tv, etc. Location was good, on a very quiet street yet less than five minute walk to the centre of town. It definitely did the job for us.

This has a Swiss chalet feel about it. Tucked away within stumbling distance of the main strip of bars and 3 blocks from the bus station, Boon Bun Dan is a great value. It's not swanky, but for a "budget" guesthouse, it'll be the coziest thing you'll find in Chiang Rai. We stayed here the night before a visa run to Mae Sai, but it's also a good launch point for tours. The furnishings are downright old school, in a good way, and the rooms have cable TV and hot showers which is a rarity at this price.
