Very spoilt with the pool villa, it was a beautiful room and setting. We loved out outdoor living room! Some of the linen is pretty worn, but altimately the setting surpasses these sort of minor details.
Staff were lovely and happy. We really enjoyed the massage options and the ladies that looked after us were most attentive. Breakfast was of a good quality with plenty of selection, and we were more than happy with the food in both the regular, and the Italian restaurants.
Hotel is a fair walk from town, but definately doable- Alternately, I short taxi ride. The option of the hotel bus in the evenings was not cheap, and inconvenient as you needed to nominate the time you would like to return to the hotel.

Arrived around 8 p.m. Greeted with cool towels and tea. Very peaceful and serene after the hustle of BKK. Room was very nice and the outdoor shower was great. Would have preferred to have someone to share it with. Beds are very firm. I'm always annoyed when resorts nickel and dime you with internet charges. A Hotel never gets five stars from me if they don't provide free wireless in the rooms. Come on people get with the program. They offer it in the Lobby but it should be resort wide.

It is our pleasure to have accommodated you and thank you for taking your time to write such a review on your experience.

Refer to the free internet please accept our apologize for unable to provide free WIFI Internet in the room only in the Lobby and some parts in of our hotel’s outlets, anyhow we are doing our very best to serve the best solution for our guests to keep in touch with their family through the world of Internet and still do not hesitate to develop its efficacy and planning if we can offer free of charge in the room for the next project.

Looking forward to let us an opportunity to welcoming you again in the future.

We stayed here on the recommendation of my best friend, so we knew we’d like it, and we did! We booked a deluxe studio room, but ultimately upgraded to one of the nicest rooms they had (pool villa I). We then had a giant room, with a shower the size of some European hotel rooms, and a backyard with a little private (cold!) pool—and our own private back yard that stretched down to the Mae Kok river! We had lounge chairs up by the pool, and way down by the river- and all that space was ours!

Internet was available in the open-air lobby, and in the rooms only at quite a cost. So, we took our iPads and cell phones and laptops to the lobby before every meal to be in touch, post pictures, and trip plan. It’s a little annoying that it’s not available in the rooms as part of the room cost. Small point, but the website said they had a gym. All there was consisted of a set of weights an an elliptical, outside, by the pool.

Breakfasts are served buffet style, and there is an immense variety of food, both Asian and European/American style foods. Whatever you might want is available, and they also cook dishes by request. We ate at the Italian restaurant two nights, and their food was reasonably good. We didn’t experience the poor service that some people complained about on TripAdvisor.

We didn’t use the tour company associated with this hotel; instead we took a cooking class in town- and then used the woman (Suwannee) who does the cooking class for a private tour on a following day (which worked out quite well, and was no more $$ than a group tour!). She also recommended her friend, a taxi driver, who drove us up to the “Golden Triangle” area for a day of sightseeing, including seeing the border towns and the Opium Museum (also worked out better than hiring a tour company for this).

Overall, we were pleased with our stay here, and would recommend it. We probably wouldn’t stay there again, only because after 6 nights in Chiang Rai, we would visit another area of Thailand on a subsequent trip. But very much enjoyed our time there, and we are VERY glad we stayed at The Legend.

Room Tip: I think all of the Deluxe Suites are good rooms; we decided to upgrade (about $70 more per night) to...

We stayed there only one night. The Hotel looks excellent ... but ... the room was stinking mouldly, the massages decreased the fixed lenghth of time and increased the price, in the morning there was no hot water at 9.30 !, the dinner was so and so and I paid 5 euro a glass of thai wine to which it was added 10% of service !! , the buffet was poor. The hotel is frequented by companies of tourists travellyng by bus of aged, but drunk, people. The director seems to be a french man who tries to exploit the ressort in the worst stingy French style ... too bed !

Having been to the hotel for Brunch, Dinner and a Play, but never having stayed there, I can say the people are very nice but not attentive. The last time we went for dinner we left after 30 minutes as our waiter couldn't find any water, coke or menus.

I stayed at the Imperial Palace (across the river), which was very nice and had a pool but I had meetings for a few days at the Legend. Also half of our party stayed here. It is beautiful and the rooms are very nice. It is a romantic spot so if I returned with my husband, I would prefer this spot.

Spent only two nights at the Legend, but it was a terrific resort. The room was spacious and clean. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. Its location on the river added to its romantic ambience. Would definitely recommend this resort.
