“Nice hotel in good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2012 via mobile

Stayed one night on flying visit to Chiang Rai. Hotel well placed for town centre and the "Walking Street". Rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend hotel for visits to Chiang Mai of any length.

Really lovely hotel within walking distance of the night markets - great square to go get dinner from and watch a free ladyboy show. also some awesome bars just alongside and behind the hotel so location is a plus.
Hotel really clean and comfortable, fridge, aircon etc.
Nice breakfast in the morning - eggs, bacon, pastry, juice
WOuld definitely stay there again

We have stayed at several places in hotels in Chiang Rai over the last 5 years usually in the low budget end!
Wangcome is a 3 star in comparison to other countries, but it is clean, predictable, very central to the night market and mainstreet and they are trying hard, main foyer was in the middle of being upgraded when we stayed, hopefully is finished by now.
They need to upgrade their website!
Buffet breakfast is an attraction for me, good mix of asian and western food all you can eat!

Room Tip: As long as your not next to a lift most rooms okay

We stayed in several hotels while in Thailand, spending the most time at a Wangcome. The location is good with many restaurants close by and a bustling night market for shopping. The rooms were old but fine. The bedding was nice and clean, there was a small fridge in the room with several bottled waters provided (comp) per day. Flat screen TV and FREE in room internet service. The bathroom had a moldy ceiling but I would guess that is pretty hard to fight in the humidity. It would help if there was a ceiling fan but we tried to fight the moisture by showering with the bathroom door open and leaving the air on during the day. I also brought fabreze and Lysol spray to help freshen things up. Another guest in our group found one cochroach but we didn't see any in our room. Laundry service is available close by at a good price or you can have it done at the hotel for a much higher price. The hotel laundry comes back cleaner, pressed and hanging - you get what you pay for. Hotel staff was fairly indifferent.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times and it is nothing at all special. Best to get a slightly better room and pay a bit extra but even there don't expect a lot. The hotel is old and if this hotel was in Chiang Mai it would be lucky to get half the price it asks. Breakfast is not wonderful either. There is a lack of middle hotels in Chiang Rai it seems. The bed was comfortable enough, but they should update the rooms by spending a bit on new showers or perhaps new TV's. On the plus side, the free internet flew at a speed I have never witnessed in Thailand. Staggering.

This is an 27 year old hotel locate at center area of Chiang Rai, opposite to ChiangRai night bazaar.
Good side of this hotel are services, room cleanliness (if you not concern about its age, but they are reforming), location and value.

My stay in this hotel was short but it was mostly pleasant. My room was very clean however it was a little dated with older appliances. The airconditioning was old and therefor took a while to cool the room down and everytime you left the room it turnder off. The room i was in over looked the smoking patio...literally anyone on the patio could walk over to my window and look in. It definately wasnt the best hotel i stayed in but it wasnt the worst either.
