This hotel looks good on internet but grubby and old in reality. Although the price was not bad 2000 baht for a twin room think there must be better hotels. When we were shown to our room it was clear from all the hair on the carpet and in the bathroom that it hadn't been cleaned well so after a word with house keeping they re vacuumed it again but not well. Internet only in the seats in the entrance. Cocktails mega money don't bother. Good points close to night bazaar which was good. Pleasant enough staff. Breakfast was horrid first morning big free for all buffet which was busy - to be fair the hotel tried its best here . Second morning felt cleaner with less people. Stayed 2 nights but wouldn't return we opted to stop at their sister hotel Dusit Island hotel and although lot more money at 3400 baht it was worth it.

If u want 2 b in center of town, this hotel is perfectly located, reception nice, staff courteous, but breakfast not oso good and rooms looking a bit old fashioned, needs makeover. Lots of restaurants within 200 yards which is perfect and night bazaar same.

Room tip: Check the view before settling in

I was reluctant to book here because of the rather ugly exterior of this hotel. But once inside the picture is one rather of opulence. Very swish interior, enormous rooms, huge beds, good bathrooms, nice room furnishings, a selection of bars and restaurants you may wish to avoid and a karaoke you will most likely wish to avoid. But value for money this is the ticket. And it is only minutes walk from the Green bus terminal if you are travelling by bus from Chiang Mai. In Europe this would be a €200 - 300 per night. Also there is a full size pool and a large buffet breakfast. The hotel is on the 'main' street of Chiang Rai and is only 5 minutes walk from the night market and night food markets - where you will want to eat!

Room tip: The pool view rooms would probably be more attractive but perhaps they cost more. But all rooms are really of a superior standard.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Wiang Inn for 2 nights in November. The lobby was very luxurious and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the rooms weren't so luxurious as the lobby and could do with a revamp and some modernising especially the bathroom. Despite this the room itself was very comfortable and safe, especially the large double bed. Although the room does not have a safe, safety deposit boxes are provided free of charge at the reception desk which were really useful. We used the hotel tour company which were really good and provided us with a private tour of the Golden Triangle and white temple. Breakfast was very good and so was the a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. The hotel is very well located with many restaurants nearby and is very close to the night market. Having said this, if your aim is to visit the Golden Triangle and not hill tribe trekking, we would recommend you stay in Chiang Mai and visit on a day trip as Chiang Rai itself does not have much to offer. Overall this hotel is extremely good value for money.

But it's ready for some investment, nice lobby, but everywhere else is a bit shabby and needing upgrading. We're here for 2 weeks and if it weren't already booked and paid for would be looking for something else to do. That said, the place is spotlessly clean though there English could be better.

Room tip: Inspect your room first
