Was a nice afternoon after visiting the white temple, a bit of a long walk up to the falls but it was nice when we got there, take a picnic and make it worthwhile, its what all the locals did and we wish we had have done.

We first visited the White Temple which we adored and then set off for the waterfall. First, there is too much walking, second there are too many people, third the swimming at the waterfall is poor. The following day we did the waterfall tour with the ATV people and the waterfall there has a better swimming pool, much less walking and we had the whole place to ourselves.

Nice trek through the jungle to reach the falls. The falls are nice, with a small swimming area at the base of the falls. Nice trees along the way. No wildlife to speak of, but good flora. A bit before the fall's entrance there are restaurants that serve food to you on platforms that sit a few inches above the river. Food, cold beer and bottles of booze. Great place for drinks and food after your hike.

Khun Kon Waterfall is one of the best near to Chiang Rai city. I simply rented a motorbike/scooter in the city and set off. It is well signposted and easy to find. Near the entrance to the National Park the waterfall is in there is a car park and you then have to walked 1.2km to reach the falls but they are well worth the effort and the jungly forest makes it an interesting walk. Take a picnic with you as there are some lovely spots to lay down your mat and eat along the way. Thais do it, so why don't you ? There's a lovely pool at the foot of the falls to cool off in. Enjoy!!

We spent the day motorbiking around Chiang Rai and ended up at Khun Kon. The hike in was fairly easy along the roller coaster (up/down) trail through the dense jungle. The trail ended at the 200ft falls that were really cool.
