We (family of 5) arrived here as part of a 25 day trip in Thailand. We were warmly received at check in and shown to our rooms - they were very sad to hear we were only there for a day. The rooms are clean and the breakfast was fine. What makes this hotel ideal is the the overall value - price, quality, location. Its close to everything in Chiang Rai town - market, etc.. No pool if that is an important consideration.

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions as a regular visitor to CR from CM and always rated it highly.
On this occasion I experienced a disturbed early morning after a 6 a.m. toilet visit resulted in a toilet refusing to stop flushing despite several attempts to make it! The noise of flushing water made further sleep impossible so a call to reception was made. Unfortunately because of a lack of English by the duty clerk I was not understood so I had to dress and go down to reception. After some discussion over the phone 2 members of staff came to my room to investigate but could do nothing to stop the flushing. I then decided I needed to shower but at 06:30 the shower would not heat up I assume because the cold water continually flushing through the system was overpowering the hot water.
I then made a 2nd trip to reception and after a further call and my speaking to an English speaking manager I was given another room in which to shower, etc. It was now 06:50.
I then watched tv for a while before going to an early breakfast.
The general manager spoke to me at breakfast and apologised profusely. I told him that his staff were as helpful as they could be but it was a lack of English that had exacerbated the situation. He realised this and said this would be reconciled in future.
I did add that I was concerned at the waste of fresh water and hoped that their water bill would not sky-rocket!
On checking out I was pleasantly surprised to receive more apologies and a gift voucher for a complimentary stay, valid until next year.
So as always the staff and management were as helpful as they possibly could be and the gift voucher a generous way to make amends.
Just one of those things that can happen, duly compensated, so I will continue to stay there and recommend it to everyone else.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up - 3rd floor is highest - for possible views.

I found this hotel at the last minute here on Trip Advisor and booked through Agoda at a great price. We are so surprised when we got there. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful. We realized as we checked in that my daughter had left her backpack on the bus. The staff went out of their way to call the bus company and track it down. Our room was fabulous. It was clean and modern and spacious. The lobby was charming and open - so a great place to just hang out. The gardens also very nice. The location is also great. It is not far from the bus station (you could walk if you were feeling energetic!) and around the corner from the Hill Tribe Museum and C&C restaurant. The only disappointment was the breakfast buffet partly because the food was mediocre and partly because of the Chinese tour groups that took up the place (we never noticed big tour groups any other time of the day). Highly recommend this hotel if you are passing through.

The value here is unbelievable. The breakfast and wi fi makes the room virtually free of charge. Clean, every facility wanted. Near the Sat walking street market. Biggest market ever. Staff are friendly and informative. best value ever.

Room Tip: Ground floor is easier for luggage

I checked into Nak Nakara yesterday. The place is spotlessly clean , and all the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and know English. Lot of wood work gives the place a unique charm...
The rooms are spacious , clean and with all amenities. The view from the room is not very good....but then it makes up for the the location as the Night bazaar and Clock Tower are just 10 mins away !
Breakfast is very nice , bacon and eggs and a whole lot of choices....I have extended my stay here....and I look forward to visit again !

Good pick for 1-2 nigts in Chiang Rai. Quite street on walking distance from restaurants, the 2 bell towers, most of the Wats and the market.
We got an upgrade on arrival.
Good breakfast selection and very friendly staff.

We only paid £30/night for this hotel so we are taking this into account, our room was large and very clean, fridge, air con, kettle, large tv. The bathroom was a bit dated, the toilet was very low and in a confined space. The wifi was a bit patchy, there wasn't a safe in the room but there were safes at reception where you paid a deposit of 1500 baht and was refunded when the key was returned, these safes were quite small but long, our mini iPad and kindle were to large to fit into the safe. The view from our window was of a breeze brick wall, and we didn't enjoy the breakfast, we only went the first day.
You get what you pay for, we stayed for 3 nights for £90 for the 2 of us.
