“Clean and quiet”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

We had a refreshing stay at Nak Nakara - after 3 weeks in Laos it was lovely to be in a quiet space with beautiful gardens. The hotel is close to the markets, great food options - we walked everywhere we needed to.

What a find! This was one of the best hotels I've stayed at - anywhere! A well situated, quiet location, set amidst pleasant gardens. Very welcoming, supportive staff with advise from the manager as to where to eat, etc. Check-in speedy and porterage to rooms by smiling, efficient staff. Beautifully equipped, super clean, big rooms with modern en suite facilities and full toiletries included. Powerful, hot shower always available with softened towels to complete one's ablutions. 2 English language channels on large flat-screen tv - 1 from Australia and a 2nd from Japan. Comfy beds and accessible bedside lights. good sized wardrobe, slippers, 2 easy chairs, table and writing desk provided with free wi-fi link. Superb, self service breakfast also included, with eggs and bacon to order. Good range of cereals, fruits and yoghurts. White and brown bead and croissants available with 3 jams to choose from. Coffee and tea, fruit juice refills always available. Deserves 5 star ++ rating, not 3!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, high up - only 3 floors high anyway.

This hotel's located not far from the main road, Phaholyathin, and just a few minutes walk to the walking street(night market). A few good restaurants are just around the corner, like Phu Lae opposite to Vocational College.
When you check-in, the front office is friendly and they even ask about your sightseeing plan and give good advice. The owner, the middle-aged lady, is always there to greet and smile to all guests. She helps at the breakfast too.
The hotel environment looks quite nice. Our room is new and clean. On that day we were upgraded to a better room. How nice!

This hotel has clean spacious rooms, the reception staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast (buffet style) provides a reasonable choice. The hotel is superbly situated for easy access to the main parts of the city and is next door to an excellent restaurant (Pizza and Salad Bar). However, only one of the reception staff has good English - she is 'on' during the day and is incredibly helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second or top floor facing the gardent

There are pros and cons. Pros - staff was incredibly nice and helpful - one of the nice staffs we met during our thai trip!rooms were big and overall ok and clean, not the nicest looking though..the location is quiet central - it's about a 15-20 minutes walk to the city centre (meaning the bus station is also quite close!). Cons - breakfast was really basic, but still bacon&eggs (which we really couldn't eat since we ate it nearly every day during our trip!!) + freezing temperatures in the breakfast room (but it's kinf of a thai thing ; ))
So overall, I'd say it was good choice, particularly considering the lack of other nice hotels in chiang rai city centre!

We enjoyed staying at this cosy hotel. The staff is really, really nice. We stayed in many different hotels in Thailand, also in a higher price range, and people were nice almost everywhere, but
at Nak Nakara they are more then nice. The owners and the staff create a very pleasant atmosphere. The breakfast is very good and gives a huge choice, exceptional for a hotel that is not so large. The rooms are quite new and nice, however, nothing really special, but everything is very convenient, with good air-condition and good beds. There is work in progress for renovation, we were told before, but we did not feel disturbed at all, it was not loud and only during the day until 5 pm (and they started quite late in the morning, I think at 9 am, but it did not wake us up).
The hotel is 10 min walking distance from the city center with many nice restaurants and
the night market.

We stayed in a newly renovated room on ground floor. Soft beds, quiet aircon but looking out at a concrete wall and barbed wire. No shower curtain so bathroom gets flooded. Loud fan in bathroom. Standard breakfast included.
They are renovating at the moment -late July 2012- but builders stop working at 17.00.
Fine for a stop-over and close to city centre but nothing special.
