“What a fun afternoon!”

Boomerang Rock Climbing and Adventure Park

Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Many fun things to do: Rock Climbing (top rope), nearby cave trek, 2 zip lines (nearly 200 meters). Climbing for all levels (most visitors are beginners). All routes are top-rope (not bolted). Good quality equipment at site, except we don't stock climbing shoes - though regular tennies or shoes will suffice. The rock is limestone and routes are up to 17 meters. Management offers free ride to town when done. Since opening in 2010 we've kept our rates reasonably low, and have had no injuries. We get repeat visitors. It's a low-budget operation with minimum impact on natural environment. However, safety is #1 and meeting/exceeding challenges is #2. Advance booking recommended.

We really enjoyed ourselves. Ken and his team (especially Ron) were excellent hosts - so knowledgeable, patient and safety conscious. Our two children ( 8 & 4 years old) had a great time. The 8 year old loved rock climbing and the zip line. The 4 year old, was too young to do most of the activities but really enjoyed playing on the tree swing and the trip to the nearby caves. All in all, a very good time had by all.

This adventure park is fairly new and still under development but do not let that keep you from checking it out. As you pull up to the park, you will note that it looks quite rugged. This is what makes this park incredible. We were greeted by an international cast of host and hostess for the day. Ken, the owner of the park, was very hospitable and able to customize our day to meet the needs of our 10 year old daughter, our 13 year old son and we adult parents. We began the day with a hike through the local caverns. We then climbed the rock cliffs at the park where all the climbing gear was provided with training on how to use them. Caspian and Hannah were great rock climbing instructors. This was followed by riding what seemed like the highest swing in Thailand. The swing swung off one of the cliffs which was about 100 feet (if not more) off the ground. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the high swings! This was followed by repeated rides on the zip line. The best part of the day was we were allowed to do all the rides and climbs as much as we wanted. While we were there, a couple from Germany came and joined us. Ken and his team did a marvelous job incorporating them into a larger group. From what we understood, Ken is planning to keep expanding the park to include even more activities for people of all ages and skill levels. After nearly five hours, we did not manage to take in all the activities. We look forward to returning in the future to see how this park continues to develop.

I am not a climber so I speak from the point of view of what I would like to do. I helped Ken (park owner) out during the low tourist season to improve the site. There is a nice big cliff overlooking the city of Chiang Rai that is worth the climb. If I was a climber I would go for it. There is also a fairly long zipline jutting out from the limestone cliff that overlooks the river. There are even bungalows if you would like to stay the night. It is inexpensive and Ken has an easygoing personality. He has another site, Rim Rock, that is currently under development for meditation, yoga and rock climbing that is worth asking about.
