“Peace away from polution and busy roads!”

Comments on Tripadvisor are most of them very true about this place (even about teh 4x4 drive :).
Noi and Nok are very nice hosts, very busy to run the place.
The Bamboo huts are simple but well designed, clean, pleasant, quiet, with amazing scenery, and surprisingly, over the 3 night we stayed there, we did not meet any flying or crawling guest in our hut!
The rooms are not expensive, Nok and Noi probably compensate via the trips and activities costs.

My advises:
1. At least 3 nights to enjoy the place.
2. Go for a whole day treck in the Jungle (no boat, no elephant) with the guide. It´s a real adventure, with swim at the waterfall and going through hill tribe villages (without traps).
3. Nok ´s GREEN CURRY is a must try! Probably the best we had in Thailand. :)

We were collected at the bus station as arranged by Nok, driven up to bamboo nest which is about half an hour drive, when the road becomes dirt it get very interesting not to mention steep! We drove through the local hill tribe village. The bamboo huts are simple but so clean and the views are to die for especially in the mornings with the clouds hanging in the valley below you. Nok and noi are wonderful hosts working so hard to make it whatever you want it to be. We did a trek with noi for a day which was just super, his knowledge and love of the nature and people around him are inspiring. The food that Nok prepares is wonderful, the best yellow curry in Thailand!! We stayed for 3nights but next time will try and stay much longer. What a lovely way to live.

Room Tip: Our hut was lovely but some I think don't have a mirror and one had no sink in the bathroom, but...

We had the most incredible stay with Nok & Noi in their home-from-home!! They were so very hospitable, the food was incredible, the bungalows comfy and beautiful and awesome trekking all around (which can be arranged through Bamboo Nest). Lovely community feel in remote and stunning landscape.

Despite unreliable internet connection, Nok & Noi managed to arrange our visit before we arrived in Thailand, and even arranged to collect us from Chiang Rai. There really wasn't anything that was too much trouble. Can't wait to return one day.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in August 2012 and were just amazed by the remoteness and simplicity of the place. Nok and Noi are kind and generous people who go out of their way to please visitors. We ate whatever was cooked for us which was delicious and fresh, and drank copious amounts of cold beer which was in the cool box - you just wrote down what you had in the notebook and paid the bill when you left!!!
Our days were spent reading and relaxing in the shade - sheer bliss especially after a long hot journey.
The views were stunning and the bamboo huts were authentic and cosy - Thank you Nok and Noi for your kindness and please don't 'give in' - having no wifi or access to computers is FANTASTIC for a change !!!

Staying at Bamboo Nest for 2 nights was by far my favorite part of my visit to Chiang Rai. You simply can't beat the beautiful scenery and awesome hospitality. Nok and Noi (the owners) are incredibly nice and accommodating (and great cooks too!). I was perfectly content with lounging around my bamboo bungalow and napping in my hammock during my stay there, but they do offer plenty of activities, including trekking. If you don't want to spend any money but have the urge to explore, there's a small Lahu hill tribe village only a few minutes walk down the mountain. There's also hot springs and a waterfall in walking distance. In the morning, mist settles in the valley and its an unbelievably beautiful and peaceful view to wake up to. At night, Noi lit us a fire in the fire pit at the top of the mountain. There's electricity at night by solar power from the day and each bungalow has an attached bathroom with toilet, sink, and hot water shower heated by gas. Nok cooks most of the food at a fair price and its delicious. Beer, bottled water, and soft drinks are also for sale. Coffe, tea, and hot water are all provided free of charge throughout the day. Overall, the atmosphere can't be beat and at their prices, it's a steal. If you're in Chiang Rai, I'd recommend this over everything and anything else that you can do there. I'll definitely be returning.

Room Tip: If it's available, I'd suggest the bungalow furthest down the hill. It has the best views a...

I really don’t know what to write, because everything you have to know about this place has already been said in all the others reviews up here!

We stayed there for 3 nights at the end of January during Chinese New Year 2012 on our 4th Thailand trip. Communication and pick up from the airport in Chiang Rai was easy and efficient. We spend the days exploring the nearby waterfall, tea plantations and rice corps and villages. The nearby hot springs a not worth a visit when you are used to western thermal baths. We enjoyed the excellent Thai food in the evenings and the conversations with the other travellers (they have only 5 bungalows) till we went to bed (consider that you are 1200m over sea level and bring warm clothes, especially in winter, we had around 17° during night, while during day the temperature was around 25-30°).

If you've read any of the other reviews then you'll understand that I am out of superlatives to describe this place. We stayed 1 night in the family cottage. It sleeps four and has two baths. Gas heats the showers and solar power turns on the lights. All the food was great but the yellow curry really stood out for me. As remote as this place is, it isn't a slog and we did it easily with our two children aged 9 months and 3 yrs and granddad in tow.

This really is the "simple life" as Nok says.

I was vividly reminded of going camping as a kid and seeing the milky way for the first time. Stargazing out there was a trip!!

Word of caution though, if you are going to drive there yourselves, as we did, watch out for the "rock". It's the sign post for the last turn to the Lahu village below the resort. I've included some pictures to help :) Park in front of the school in the village and walk straight up the hill to the guesthouse. We were lucky enough to randomly run into Nok's husband on the way and he took our luggage up on his motorbike. If you intend on driving yourself, don't hesitate to contact me for hints and tips.

Thank you again to Nok and her husband for a wonderful start to our northern Thai holiday!
