“Silver Temple and Golden Toilet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2014

Temples are aplenty in Thailand but this is an architectural marvel combination of traditional and space age designs. Digital cameras can never project the shimmering silver and original shines of the building.
In a very bold move the toilets are in Gold and they are the cleanest you can find in Chiang Rai.
Dressed appropriately, covering the knees and shoulders, if you wish to enter the main shrine hall.
Ideal place for shutter bugs but ensure you have proper filters to project the white and the reflection under the sun.
A place never to be missed if you are in Chiang Rai besides the Doi Suthep Temple in Chiang Mai

“Visually stunning.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

Spectacular exterior and interior - murals inside are a interesting, if a bit obscure at times (link to Elvis, Spiderman, etc) artistic expression of one modern Buddhist perspective on life's Dos and Don'ts.
Interior: Think of the Four-fold Path in Day-Glo.
Exterior: a Thai "white wedding" cake - on L.S.D.
No disrespect intended! The architect clearly intended to use extremes to get his message about extreme behaviour across.
Quite agree with the consensus - 45 minutes max for this visit.
Don't miss the traffic cones from Hell!

“well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

When traveling in Asia for 4+ months, I've seen my fair share of temples - none of which compare with the splendor of the white temple. It is breath takingly beautiful and the art within the temple is unlike any other I've seen. Really interesting!
