Met the gentleman and his wife who built this Wat. Really a nice gentleman and he roamed the crowd as the locals said he would in the afternoons.

If you want to see something out of the ordinary, this is it. We enjoyed the visit and we were amazed at the complexity of the project he completed. If you are in Thailand, it is worth the trip to Chaing Rai.

Yes, it is a tourist attraction but it's so worth it!
The temple isn't comparable with any other we've seen. The whole building plus park area is unique. So many details to discover - have a closer look on things, especially on the path leading to the temple entrance! The inside is nothing compared to the outside, just a basic room with a Buddha statue and not at all as ostentatious as the outside. Nevertheless, turn around once you are inside and have a closer look on the back wall. You'll see small drawings of e.g. Michael Jackson or spiderman as symbols of hell.
A shame we didn't have enough time as our hotel receptionist told us the temple is open till 7pm but it's open till 5pm only!

This all-white temple really is one of a kind. From the elaborate construction to the artistic but rather dark theme of expression. The white material with reflective pieces make the entire temple spark in the sun. It looks so pure that I hesitated setting my food on the steps. The theme reflects the struggle of human against suffering, and the will to rise above it. Well at least that's how I interpreted it. Therefore a rather disturbing appearance yields to a peaceful acceptance of the human condition and our will to salvation. Either you are religious, spiritual or not, definitely worth seeing.

This white temple is truly amazing. It was designed and built by an extraordinarily talented local (now world renowned) artist whose wonderful work is exhibited in a gallery on site. Charge up your camera battery and make sure you have plenty of space on your memory card.

We venturer the short bus trip out of town to visit the white temple and it was definitely worth it.

Its free in which is great. Really pretty outside but the inner temple isnt as lovely.

But certainly worth a visit, avoid the food court across the road. We ate there and it was horrible!
