Because I was driving a 2WD car on a 'road' that actually requires a 4WD I got stuck not far from Mae Chan and needed a hotel for a night. The Rimchan Resort looks good and its location is good, especially when you like to enjoy a massage, as there are many establishments offering this service in the immediate neighbourhood. The resort has several nice bungalows and even a little swimming pool, where local children sometimes get swimming lessons during daytime. It 'breathes' a sympathic atmosphere, though your purse migth not agree with you, but that might be for other reasons ;-)
Don't repeat my mistake though!
Because I arrived late I just wanted to sleep and took one of the rooms in front of the resort (extremely simple but still 600 Baht! -could you leave a bottle opener here? No, because they are mostly stolen ...) . Next morning at about five o'clock I noticed (could by no means avoid it) that the open space in front of these rooms are used for busses. And yes: they start the day very early and do this by running the engines for about an hour or so to, probably, get the aircon going, build up the pressure for the brakes and powersteering or whatever.
Don't expect the staff to speak anything else than northern Thai ;-)
Summary: probably a nice place, but don't book for several days at forehand. First try it out.
