Enjoyed our 5 days at Le Meridian and felt sorry for the bus loads of tourists who only stayed overnight. OTOH 5 days was a little too long.
As others have remarked the hotel is a little out of town but offers a good shuttle service to markets and main attractions. Also there's a cluster of small restaurants and shops a few minutes walk away.
The riverside location is beautiful but we we were disappointed to find that you could not walk alongside the river beyond the hotel itself. Also we were surprised that the river was so little used - few boats except overpriced tours from hotel.
Especially recommend fine dining at Favola; yes, it's incongruous to have such a pleasant Italian restaurant on the edge of a Mekong tributary and yes it's a little pricey.

The resort was in a beautiful setting alongside the river. It actually is not very far from the town. We had thought it would be quite far removed out in the countryside (which was what we were looking for) but it actually is just on the outskirts of some nearby hustle and bustle of the city. We had a great time and unfortunately only stayed for one night. We should have planned to stay for two nights because we didn't get to see anything outside the resort (villages, elephants, etc.). The food was excellent and the spa (3 hour session) was forever memorable! The rooms were clean and very spacious with a pleasant balcony attached in the back with a view of the river and swimming pool. Come here to relax, unplug, and get pampered!

I was on a tour as a single woman and we had stayed in some nice hotels but when we walked into this one, I felt like a princes, the food, service, the luxury of the rooms were outstanding.
So close to the night market, the out door area was so beautiful and again was designed by a world class landscaper. The cherry on the top was the spa, if you do nothing else while you are at this hotel you must got to the spa and get a thi massage.

We chose to go on a two day tour from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. We chose to go for some luxury, and booked us into Le Meridien. This was a great choice. The most impressive hotel rooms I have ever seen. Very impressive pool area, and great breakfast. Also, their cocktail happy hour was a blast. The only disadvantage is the location, as it is a bit far away from the city. However, the reception will happily assist you in booking a cap that can get you to the city centre for a small cost. Therefore, I will highly recommend Le Meridien if you are going for some luxury.

Dear StineRonholt

Many thanks for your warm words. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. It was a pleasure to have you as a guest in our Resort.

I do noted your comment regarding a bit far away from the city. You would be glad to know that we actually provide 4 daily shuttle bus services into and back from downtown Chiang Rai.

And I hope that we will have the pleasure to welcome you back in Chiang Rai.

With warm regards
