Excellent base for families - 2.5 to 3 hour drive from Bangkok - spent 8 days with our 3 children (ages 7-13) and absolutely no complaints. If you want to be in the middle of town then this is not for you. Rooms were spacious, well equipped and comfortable - bathrooms excellent with large bath and seperate shower. Views not that exciting from garden view rooms - worth trying to get pool view and specifically pool (lagoon) access room on ground level as balcony goes straight onto pool! The pool was superb and endless and even though hotel was on full occupancy the week we stayed, it never felt crowded. Plenty of lawn space to sunbathe in front of the beach and no shortage of sunbeds, The sea is very shallow, though can be a bit choppy when windy. Hotel has good restaurant overlooking beach, but all eating/drinking facilities are within resort - there are no bars/cafes on the beach or close by. Excellent selection for breakfast and attention from staff faultless. To get into Hua Hin centre is about a 15 minutes taxi ride - hotel has a limo service which, for families, works out cheaper than the shuttle bus. Its easy to get a taxi or tuk-tuk back from town. The hotel concierge is great source of info for any outings and through them we organised our own driver which then gave us the independence to go to the sights we wanted to see. With children, a great beach is South Khao Takiab - lots of beach bars/cafes and plenty of water activities - but again, not overly crowded. Avoid Cha'Am beach as this is a frenzy and predominantly local - especially weekends.

My wife & I stayed here for for 10 days with our 20 year old daughter. The resort is stunning! Rooms are great, well laid out and modern and impeccably clean. The resort is large with the biggest, cleanest, user friendly swimming pool we've ever experienced, which is just as well because the beach is not so good.

We highly recommend all the restaurants, the Thai food is stunning, the Italian a welcome change. Try the seafood at the beach bar of a night time and make sure you get it done thai style - sensational! inAzia, their top restaurant is brilliant, again focus on the Thai food though the Indian is just as good, multi award winner for good reason! The breakfast buffet is one of the best we've seen anywhere in Asia.

The bars are great, highly recommend the cocktail list which varies from bar to bar, afternoon cocktails on the reception terrace are a must.

The service is friendly, warm and welcoming, we were treated as old friends. Bertrand, the F&B manager is everywhere all day and makes himself known to guests, he and his staff do a great job.

The Concierge is happy to organise trips and taxis for you - so go ahead and ask - they are brilliant, efficient and can't do enough to help. The reception staff are attentive and our every request was met in a warm, caring manner promptly.

The Spa is worth a visit to rest those tired aching muscles and for the girls to get a manicure and pedicure - relaxing and brilliant!

Whilst some complained about the number of functions at the resort we found the many that occured during our stay did not impose on the quality of our stay. Weekend are busy when the Bangkok crowds arrive, but the resort is large enough to make it still feel uncrowded and exclusive.

In all we cannot speak highly enough about the resort..........well worth the stay, which at the end of 10 days was great value for money as well!

Great Hotel with Biggest Pool I have ever seen.
But the room wasn't that exciting. Food: Not Expensive and worth the price.

I will go back for sure as Intercontinental disappointed me.

Sheraton, good jobs

Excellent welcome from all staff including the general manager upon check in.
Resort is well organised in small bungalows and feeling is of a reasonable size.
Hotel pool is huge and lagoon allows you to always find a quiet area if you want to swim.
Two critics only : food quality in the main restaurant, as well as service, is not up to expectations. And also hotel locations - a bit far from the centre of Hua Hin - makes it more difficult to plan activities or shopping.
Special thanks to Lucky in reception, always trying to find a solution.

I must admit this hotel has made a very very good impression on me. So much, that I have stayed there twice in the past 2 years. Each time a week - as the amenities offered by this hotel are amazing. Location may not be perfect for tourists - as it is situated far from Hua hin downtown, but in the end if one feels like getting to the centre, the staff always is willing to call a taxi which doesnt cost much. This is definitely a hotel for couples, friends and families with children. The open air concept of the Lobby and Reception Area is brilliant. The finishing and details of the hotel are very exciting. A thai meets colonial influence is visible all around. The staff is always willing to help - very much taking to heart the well advertised Thai hospitality. The rooms are clean, well serviced but not design wise very much like most sheraton rooms. The most amazing part of the hotel is the lagoon pool and all water features available. The inifinity pool at the end contrasts the beach making it the best relaxation spot possible. The amazing sunsets over the Lobby area make it a truly breathtaking experience. The hotel restaurants are very good - making dining easy and comfortable without leaving the hotel. Huge compliments to the chef for the buffet dinners - an experience worth every penny. The breakfast is equally extraordinary - with quality being of the utmost importance to the staff. If one compares prices of Starwood hotels in Thailand they will find that this hotel is by far the best bargain possible for a resort and spa hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Had anther stay here, this was my 6th stay within last 6 months (see how often i am return to this hotel, :P)

Well, this time I did got the phone call twice before the date of check-in from the hotel's reservation by asking me to confirm the booking, and to confirm the time of arrive by the 2nd call.

I felt a little strange at the time, coz I have never been asked to do so before.

I am glad t be informed I have been upgraded to Lagoon access room as usual upon check-in. Next time i will be SPG platinum, so, guess I will be upgraded to suite then.

There was a Indian wedding during my stay, and the normal hotel guess have been forced to use other restaurant when the place has be filled with Wedding group.

The wedding group having parties at the beach front every night till 23:50 pm, and that was a way too loud for someone like me who want to enjoy a short weekend escape from BKK after a busy week.

another thing i want to brought up is there was no newspaper delivered to my room at the 2nd day. Also, no fruit plate in the room too.

Maybe the whole hotel is very busy to take care of the Indian wedding guests only.

Wondering if I can request some "goodwill" SPG points on this stay???

First off the good:

This is a lovely hotel with the stunning pool the heart of the entire complex. It's huge in scale with space for everyone to swim and more. The food is superb with all the restaurants being excellent. And the breakfast buffet is tremendous. Fat Americans would love it! The rooms are very spacious and we were fortunate to have an upgrade. The hotel is a far way out, so don't come here if you love beach holidays. Bar excursions, you could end up staying your whole stay here. Be aware before you book. Thankfully, they don't rip you off.

The bad:

The hotel has a truly silly policy of vacuuming the hallways at 8am! Clearly the management don't appreciate that the majority of guests may want to sleep in slightly later than they get up when they are going to work! This is hugely irritating. If this is a time management issue with staff, then employ more. Thai labour is not very expensive!

The rooms need DVD players and an improved range of TV channels. A lot of people nowadays bring DVD box sets on holiday or buy them cheaply in Thailand. It'd be nice as other hotels do to watch them.

Free internet access is good. But the obsession with filling in forms to access the access, is weird!

Whilst huge, there is limited sunbed availability. Sadly, do what everyone else does and put your towel down early to get a good spot.

The ugly:

There are two things here. First is a scam ran by the hotels concierge. They try and charge you UK £80 for a cab to the airport. N.B It costs around £30-40 to get there from Bangkok. They try to justify this by saying the difference is 'insurance'. Such an answer is both a blatant lie and disrespectful to guests. TIP - go to Hua Hin and book direct. You get exactly the same car for half the price.

On the last day, the hotel hosted a function for cisco systems. This resulted in the hotel management moving ALL of the sunbeds into the shade and building a temporary stage. This totally disrupted everyone and really spoiled the last day of a holiday. Picture 20+ people drilling and banging and you get my point.

When asked the management were dismissive.

This is very disrespectful of guests. Sure, corporate jobs pay a lot. But I have never known a hotel blatantly ignore the needs of the many, for the benefit of the few. At the end of the day this is not a cheap hotel and a hotel in Europe or the USA would not treat their guests like this.

In conclusion, a nice hotel, let down by a lot.

I have noticed the management respond to Trip Advisor comments. If the supervisor reads this, please don't patronise me with one of your usual soporific responses. Do something with meaning.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. To clarify on the vacuuming at 8 am, it was not our normal practice to do so but on that day we would have a big meeting group checking in. That was why we had to try cleaning up as fast as we could. We sincerely apologize for the disturbance.

We are sorry that the set up for the meeting group event on beach lawn ruined your holiday. We did our best to accept most group meetings on weekdays when the occupancy was not very high as we would like to ensure that our individual guest having a pleasant stay while the meeting group having a successful event. We do hope you understand our situation.

Regarding the internet access form, please be advised that Thai law requires everyone using the internet in public area of the hotel to fill out the form. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we have to strictly follow the applicable law.

All your comments have been shared with our senior management. I have also passed your comments onto the kitchen team to keep up the good work at our breakfast buffet.
