Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa
Ranked #3 of 62 Hotels in Cha-am
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 20, 2009

Let's start with good things, the Sheraton Hua Hin (aka Cha Am) has a beautiful layout and rooms with access directly to the pool. InAsia served tasty food and excellent service. The breakfast at the Deck was also nice.

I love the Spa, very relaxing experience with attentive staff - I enjoyed my two massage sessions.

Overall, nice staff, except for the reception area and bell service (very slowwwww and not that efficient). It took forever to check-in, not too bad for check-out. The person put four of us in one room for hours, I had to chase after the key to our second room.

The pool looks nice, they need to clean it thoroughly to make it more pleasant for swimmers. I stayed over the crowded weekend with kids screaming, pretty turned off by the noise.

My husband and I recently stayed at The Sheraton for 10 nights in June. The reviews I read before we went were mixed. After staying at the Sheraton I would say whoever made any negative remarks about the Hotel must have been having a bad day. I would have to say tht this is one of the, if not the best Hotels we have stayed at in all of our trips to Asia. We stayed in the lagoon access rooms and that is why we slected the Sheraton to stay at. (have stayed previously at pool acccess in Phuket and love them). I don't know if my rating would be as high if I had a garden view room even though the Hotel is still fabulous. The pool access rooms made the holiday for us and we did not want to leave the hotel. We were lucky to get a free upgrade from the garden room to a lagoon access room by booking with Qantas Holidays. That saved us a lot of money. The special is still on until November I think, so anyone thinking of going to Hua Hin before then, it would certainly be a good deal.

The rooms were large, nicely decorated, very clean and the best beds in Thailand. Sitting on our terrace overlooking the lagoon and gardens was like paradise and being able to enter the water from our balcony was a major plus. The lagoon then winds its way down to a huge infinity pool that has a view over the ocean with also a lovely grassed area. I have never seen such manicured gardens and it is a credit to the Hotel and their staff.

The Hotel is only a two story building and has a very good lay out. Everything is close. The reception area was first class and the restaurants very nice also. It could get a bit expensive if you ate at the buffet or the top restaurant (with drinks) every night, but we alternated. Some nights we went into Hua Hin on the resort shuttle bus and ate at the many restaurants in town and others ate at the a-la-carte or Salas (which was cheaper) at the Hotel.

The Hotel staff were very obliging and friendly. Some were not that good with their english, but if you take it slow you can get them to understand. Remember, we cannot speak Thai. Whenever we needed fresh milk, ice or anything from room service it was done very quickly and with a smile.

The location of the hotel is around 9 kms from Hua Hin. It is no good complaining when you get there that it is too far from town, do you research before you go. For us the location was not a factor as we went for a relaxing time and that is what we had. The location is something you have to personally decide on. We went into Hua Hin 4 times late in the afternoon (10 mins) did a bit of shopping, markets, sightseeing and then would have dinner in one of the many restaurants. If you make the Hilton Hotel your base, there are lots of good restaurants around there. Also massage shops open until late where you can get a hour hour foot massage for A$10. They are a must.

Also did a day tour out into the countryside to a plantation, fishing village and national park for lunch. The weather was fantastic, only a few drops of rain on two afternoons. Hua Hin is a lot bigger and cleaner that I thought it would be and very spread out.

The Hotel was very quiet when we were there which suited us, but maybe if you like a lot happening and plenty of night life it may not suit you. It all depends on what type of holiday you are looking for.

In conclusion I would like to thank all the Sheraton Staff from check-in to check-out for their great hospitality and making our holiday so wonderful. Can't wait to return.

Just came back from a 3 days 2 nights trip during 5-7 July 09 with my wife and my 8 yrs old son. My son said that he liked the swimming pool since we checked in a lagoon access room #6113. My wife and my son agreed that the room was nice and clean with plenty of TV channels via a satellite system especially cartoon channels for kid (e.g. Boomerang at 77th, Kidco at 43).
All of the above are good things we observed.
How about bad things? Please follow me...
1. Checking in and out: We encountered a delay during checking in for 2 hrs...awaiting luggages in the room for the next 45 minutes. For checking out, we waited for an hour for a bell captain.
2. Food: We noticed that sheraton hua hin resort can still continue keeping their standard at poor to average. If you want to eat, we recommend eating at In-Azia restaurant. Don't go to the Deck since you will experience awful staff with poor coordination with pricey terrible foods.
3. Parking lots: You may need to find out parking space during a long weekend holidays due to limited space.
In conclusion, we still recemmend the hotel if you want good swimming pool and accommodation and don't bother with shortfalls on food and service at the restaurant (except In-Azia) as well as delayed check-in and out.
To my personal point of view, I am also praying to have some more hotels with competitive swimming pool and good bed in order to have more choices to pick up. Not monopolized situation like present situation...

We stayed at the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort for 11 nights for my husbands 40th Birthday; from the minute we arrived we were treated well until the minute we left. On Arrive were we greeted by staff with cold clothes and iced tea, the reception was plush and beautiful. We were upgraded to a pool view and were given five days free dinner meals passes.

They also sent up a cake and bubble on the day of my husband's birthday.
The breakfast was buffet style with an extensive choice of meals from difficult culinary styles from around the world meeting every ones requirements i.e. cooked breakfast (English), omelettes bar, Thai, cereal yogurts, pastries and breads etc.

The evening meals we had were wonderful, we only eat in the restaurant when we had the vouchers as meals in town were cheaper and of a equal standard. The drinks are very expense and we spent the same on soft drinks that we could have spent on a two course meal in town.

The hotel offered a shuttle (50 bait per person each way) into town and was comparative to a taxi, we did not feel it was necessary to hire a car unless you are going to use it for sightseeing also. The hotel has a few local restaurants within short walking distance so you could walk and get lunch or a snack and then go into town in the evenings.

The hotel offers free internet access sessions in the reception area; this can be used throughout the day.

The pool was shaped like a figure eight with large pockets, in several of the pockets it had a Jacuzzis and waterfall passages. The pool was spectacular and had areas for everyone in the centre of the ground they had children’s pool s and shallow pool areas. There were areas all over the ground where you could sunbath and shower in seclusion.
The grounds are manicure and immaculate, they are really extraordinary; they put on a show on the grounds one night during our stay. The offer children play centre and gym. The hotel although on the beach is just a small strip, we did not feel the need to lie on the beach as the pool side and grounds were incredible.

The room was amazing the bath could fit two we has a fresh orchid on our towels every day. Large shower, spacious room and you had a shutter so that you could be in the bath and look out into the room or out of the large window. The room was wonderfully clean and you are stocked up with free drinking water.

We had a marvellous time and we have already recommended to friend and family, my friend is going out in December. We plan to also go back again.

When we first pulled up we were already set at ease. The open-air architecture is welcoming and relaxing, while the same can be said for the staff. The rooms are typical "Sheraton," well-appointed, clean and very comfortable beds. The amenities were done nicely as well. The resort is beautifully designed and decorated, with perfect Thai touches.

At this point in our trip we were looking for relaxation, and that's exactly what we found. The pool/lawn area is beautiful (please be sure to catch the sun setting over the water, breathtaking), but be advised - as this is Hua Hin there is really no beach to speak of. You can walk down some stairs to take a stroll on the rock-and-shell-covered beach to find a few treasures, but there will be no sunbathing! If this is something you're looking for, it's best to go elsewhere.

The staff was friendly, though the chair service left some to be desired - could be a bit slow. It's always a nice touch at higher-end hotels to have complementary water or fruit available as guests go through so much, and as this property boasts itself as such it would be a nice added value.

The restaurants offered up tasty, if not pricey, dishes - we really got our full at the buffet. At the Asian-inspired restaurant the first night our portions were so large we couldn't finish (not the best etiquette in Thailand, but sometimes there's just no room!)...however, the following night we dined there again and the staff must have remembered us because the portions were definitely smaller! Loved that!

There's a shuttle that takes you to town if you want to dine out or stroll around. It's pretty much what you'd imagine any beach town to be, nothing too special to write home about in that regard.

I stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of June. The Hotel was incredibly empty with not many guests which made me suspicious. However, the Hotel was found to be superb and an absolute Gem.

Rooms - Excellent clean rooms with extremely comfortable beds. Large bathroom with walk in Shower and Large Bath. Only (slight) negative was that water pressure in the shower was not very good.

Dining - Tried the main restaurant for an evening meal and we all had a great meal. Excellent Wine list with superb service. Good choice at Breakfast too....

Bar - Good choice of drinks. Served at your table by attentive staff. The group (2 girl singers, Boy playing keyboard) tried hard but were rubbish.

Pool Area and Grounds - Excellent layout. Pool is large and inviting. Good access to the beach.

Negatives -
1. Lots of mosquitos on an evening if you choose to dine / drink outside. Don't forget the Mozzy Spray.
2. A little bit out of town (about 10 mins drive)

All in all I rate this Hotel and will be staying again.
