Good:
- Great service and friendly staff
- Pool area is fantastic and deck chairs are plentiful
- Quiet location
- Beach area is quiet and relatively secluded
- Price of food is very reasonable

Bad:
- Rooms need renovation
- Damp smell in the room
- Isolated location and far from the town center

This resort is not for people who want to be close to the action. It is located in a secluded area of Hua Hin, which restricts the entertainment/dining/shopping activities that you can do, unless you take a taxi into town (20mins).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with plenty of sun. If you can afford it, upgrade to a high level room. Basic room is not too good.

We went to Veranda from May 25-27. Stayed at the 2 bedroom Sky Pool villa. There are goods and bad, unfortunately they are pretty even. Which makes rating this resort harder, but before I go into the details I just want to say thank you to K.Tao, our personal butler. She is always there when you need her with smiles. Job well done.

The resort, ok, it's not really a resort. At least I do not feel it is. It's more like a small hotel. The hotel is separated into 2 areas. Deluxe rooms and Seaview rooms are in one, and the jacuzzi suite, and sky pool villa is in another building. For deluxe rooms, they are on the 1st floor, which makes it very public. Seaview rooms are better. These 2 room type are towards the front area of the hotel, closer to the beach(they are 3 stories high). The Jacuzzi suite and the Sky Pool villa is in the rear end, separated by a small street for car to drive through to the parking lot(this building have 7 floors - 7th is the Sky Pool Villa). There's also a 3 bedroom Beach side pool villa right by the beach, but since I didn't check it out, it is only fair for me to not comment on that.

The deluxe and Seaview rooms are of decent size, but because of the layout of the room and furniture used makes the room feels a little cramped. There isn't must to say about these 2 types of room, as they are very average. Sky Pool villa though is different. The ceiling is very high. There are 2 bedrooms in this room type. Once you walk into the villa(No.1), towards the your left is a spacious stairs leading to the room on top. Walk to your right, there's a spacious living room space. Next to the living room is the other bedroom. Laying on the bed, you'll see a panoramic view of the ocean + the villa's private pool. At the back of the bedroom is a huge bathroom with all the toiletries that you'll need(no brand). The pool is rather small, 3-4 frog-style strokes will get from one end to the other. They have a shallow area for guest to lay down to sunbath while half of your body is in the water. I find this pretty neat. There aren't any big problems as room is rather well kept..except for the water spitting A/C. We never leave the doors open so the the room temp was always kept at a cool temp. I don't see how condensation could form, but it did. Anyhow, the room cost about 21,000 baht a night which isn't cheap. I do not like the idea that the building is not close to the beach, but in the back building. The view from the villa is great as long as this thought doesn't bother you. The jacuzzi suite below is, however starts from Fl.2-6. You will not have much view if you stayed on the 2-4th floor as you'll be blocked my the the concierge area. You will see people coming in and out of the resort, but that's not exactly refreshing.

As I say earlier, it is hard to rate this place as there seems to be many contradictions. I'll have to rank it as average though. No because their service is bad, or the rooms are bad or anything. Service was actually pretty good, rooms are nice, but when you place is in the rear building, it feels like you are paying premium, getting premium service and you get second class location. That to me just doesn't fit. Another thing I would like to comment is the breakfast. If you book this hotel, and it doesn't come with breakfast, you did not miss anything. Coffee is horrible, selections are average yet the quality is low. Sausages, ham, bacon, pastries are cheap stuff for sure. Also, the breakfast area are flies heaven. It's not fun eating with one had and waving them of with another. You better off finding some place else for breakfast.

Anyhow, the resort is alright. Price charge is rather high for what you are getting, but it's good that I've stayed here as I've always wonder what's Veranda Sky Pool villa is like. The other resort with similar layout would be the V Villa in Hua Hin, but the price is even higher there, and it's not beach front as well. I was hoping for a peaceful and relaxing trip, but unfortunately, some company held a seminar there and people were screaming till 2:00 AM. The beach is...well...I guess in the more peaceful part of the beach strip. Though for this price and location, I would go to Le Bayburi on Pranburi instead. More peaceful, more private, 3 beed room beach front villas, and half the price.

Room Tip: you don't want jacuzzi from fl.2-4. you don't want deluxe room, add a few more $$ and you get seaview room. Much better. If fully booked, go else where. At least you'll know won't miss anything.

We travelled from Bangkok to Hua Hin by Train. The journey was supposed to take 4 hours it took 6 and a half and was very drawn out by siding stops to allow other trains coming in the other direction to pass us.
The scenery was nice and at least you can get up and walk around. However if you have had a long day as we did with 24 hours travelling then I would recommend using a bus to get there, or better still if you have the funds a private hire car.

We stayed at the Veranda Hotel located about 20 minutes out of town. The taxi drivers wanted to charge us $600 BHT to get there trying to tell us it was 20 ks out of town. Not true it is roughly 10 ks but who is counting. We paid $400 BHT to get there and we were not disappointed in terms of its location and seclusion.
It backs onto the beach which is relatively private and quiet, the pool and most rooms look out over the beach and or pool. The food was good as was the service, rooms and staff assistance.
There are no real small shops nearby so if you want to stock up an anything then you need to do this is Hua Hin. The hotel has a shuttle service at a cost of $100 BHT per person into Hua Hin and return, they run at various hours and so you are able to explore the markets and shops in Hua Hin.
Loved the peaceful quiet location, out of the rat race and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a getaway.
