Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort and Spa
Ranked #6 of 62 Hotels in Cha-am

I have stayed in a number of nice, crisp and stylish Novotels before. But this property is old and needs some TLC. The room was a decent enough size but had some fairly basic maintenance issues that had been neglected, the most annoying of which was the sliding door that would never shut properly and jammed all the time meaning the AC disabled. Breakfast was very expensive at over 400 THB a person and not worthy of the price. Food on the whole ranged from average to pretty good.

The location was far from ideal too. Although the hotel offers nice sea views, its not really in Hua Hin! We rented a motorbike because the hotel shuttle service was not frequent enough and it was a good 20 minutes drive to town. On the one occasion we did use the shuttle, a large man wearing a Hawaiian shirt tried to hustle us for fares back to the hotel and to the airport, far from the professional standard I expect from Novotel. The pool was huge although most of it was only knee deep and absolutely full of screaming kids, especially on the weekend. The gym was good though and service in general was okay.

I would not recommend nor stay at this property again.

Had lunch here on 23/6 . Nice restaurant with Sails overhead it was raining yet not one drop of rain was on us.
Views right out as far as you can see out to sea.

Comfortable chairs and pleasant surroundings.
We had Green Papaya Salad with Chicken as I dont like it hot it had one chilli and there were 5 generous pieces of very nive chicken.
The other meal was Satays with a very nice peanut sauce I think there were 9 satays plus we had a Green Salad. Each meal was 153 baht.

This hotel is located two hours from Bangkok (2000 bath for taxi minivan). This is our third trip to Thailand and it is by far the most luxurous hotel we stayed at. The enormous pool with poolbar and waterslide is so warm you wont believe it. The breakfast is also fantastic and includes a wide variety of coffe and waffles, pancakes, omelets and even two kind of bacon :-)

When we first arrive at the resort, it was visible from the external of the building that it is showing it's age. However upon getting off the car, we fell in love with the beauty of the grand lobby. The overall of the resort is kept clean & modern. The corridor leading to the hotel room is very breezy with a view of the back of the hotel & the beautiful landscape of the inland. The hotel room has a wonderful view of the pool & the sea.

As we arrive late Sunday afternoon, the resort was relatively quiet throughout our stay & felt like we own the place. There were regular up keeping work carried out on the resort but nothing major bothering us. The kids love the Kids World which was equipped with video games, table soccer, movie room, activity corner etc... There's even a room with baby cots which I supposed it's for baby sitting. For us adults, my favourite is sitting in the hanging "bubble seat". The Kids World is conveniently located next to the swimming pool & the massage parlour. There is a big water slide at the pool which is the main attraction for the kids. We tried out the massage & we had a room for both my husband & I together with a close view of the sea. The massage was very relaxing & we enjoyed totally. We were served tea & very yummy dried tomatoes at the end of the session. However just before the end of the session, we were shocked to see a hotel guest walking pass the window on the outside of the massage room. We went to check out the area subsequently & realised that although the windows of the massage rooms are tinted, the view inside the room can still be seen at certain angles though not very clearly. The management might want to consider either blocking off the area outside the massage rooms or apply totally reflective screen on the windows.

We dined twice at the Cafe on the Beach, the food were lovely & priced very reasonably. Breakfast spread at the Horizon Cafe is good.

The hotel provides free return shuttle to Hua Hin town at specific timings but an hour pre-booking in advance is required. We didn't realised that & as no other guests has booked for the shuttle for the specific time, the shuttle didn't operate. We were practically "stranded" at the resort until the next shuttle time. There's no taxi (the only taxis we saw were tuk tuks in the town centre) & the only way to get to town is to book a car & driver. We paid 800baht for a return trip to Cicada Market which seems a little expensive.

On the whole, we love the resort & hoping to return there some day.
