This is one of very best attractions to be found in the Hua Hin area. The easiest route to the park is by turning left towards Springfield golf course if your heading north from Hua Hin. Kaeng Krachan Country Club And Resort with it's magnificent golf course should not be missed, also they have bungalows for rent in the grounds . Pala u waterfall is a great adventure, we battled are way up too level 5, (awesome). If you think you can go any further than 5, forget it you would need to be a survival expert with all the equipment.

For nature lovers like me I really enjoy driving to Kaeng Krachan National Park and visit the Pala-U Waterfall there.
Around 60km west of Hua Hin, We drove fro around 1 hour to reach the entrance of the national park. Along the route there are numerous junctions that need careful attentions for the correct direction reaching the national park, so if you are driving there too please pay attention to road signs.
As a tourist, an entrance fee of 200 baht per adult and 30 baht for the car. A small parking lot that can park around 10 cars is available at the entrance of the waterfall. It is probably crowed during weekends so please check at the national park entrance.
Our main purpose is for the waterfall so we go straight up for a walk along the fall. From the signage there are 11 steps of the fall so be prepared to walk for several hours if you aim to reach the top.
My families can only reached step 3 and I reached step 5 becoz the path alongside the waterfall is not easy. Beyond step 3 there are numerous points that the muddy path is slippery and at some points need climbing rocks. i guess if going up to 11th might need more equipment.
We do enjoy every much along the path. There are many different kinds of butterflies, mushrooms and plants to check over. You can also buy a bag of fish bait at 10 baht to feed the fishes. Be amazed on the feeding fancy! :)

We decided to take a day trip to this part to see the views of the countryside and its wild life. We were certainly not disappointed. Besides visiting the national park dam we decided to look for wild life and were introduced to monkey island completely inhabited by Macaque monkeys. These intelligent animals knew that when a boat approached, food was available so much so they all came down to the waters edge and some even swimming out to the boat, The photographs will show this,
Whist in the park came across a large monitor lizard, I think.
Well worth a visit

We took a mini bus tour to the park during our holiday, It involved a long tail boat trip to the park centre for a steep uphill climb to a temple created for the kinhg.
As reasonably fit 60 year olds we found the climb too much with slippery 'steps' and little in the way of hand holds - definately not suitable for young children or older people! We had to paddle through lots of jellyfish to get to the boat. We were told that we had to watch out for the red ones as they had a bad sting!
On the up side it was beautiful and we saw a troup grey langur monkeys and squirrels. The food in the park restaurant was great!
