The Hotel is under reconstruction, work start at 07:30 and ended around 19:00. Relax in the room or outside pool is not possible becourse of the pressed air hammer work. Even on the sater-and sunday the works continious. Wild partys around the pool till 03:00 in the night makes a normal sleep impossible and show the minor responsability of the management to other non-party people sleeps in the hotel. The buffet breakfast (ordered+payd) was reduced to a la cart breakfast. The reconstruction will take about 2 years from now, June 2012. There be better hotels around witch I will take by my next visit. Long beach Hotel . . no thanks !!

Room tip: At this time, you better look for another hotel in the area

The title says it all!
It is a very nice hotel. Extremely clean, very polite stuff, with an impressive breakfast. We loved the selection of food. Served the best breakfast we ate in Thailand.
The location of the hotel is very good, with the beach just across the street and a lot of restaurants and shops around. Also, the night market is very close.
We had a room facing the sea and some roofs :), but was OK. Our room was not among the newly refurbished ones, but was impecable cleaned every day.
The only drawback is the fact that the walls and doors are very thin and you could easily hear noises from the adiacent rooms and from the hallway.
Would gladly return there . Highly reccommend it.

We booked online and got an incredible rate which included a buffet breakfast. What a pleasant surprise. The buffet was as good as anything provided by the so called four star hotels. Lots of choice and plenty of food. Good for late risers as it stayed open until 10:30 AM. It is rated as a three star hotel but could be 3 and a half. The room was large and overlooked the mountains, which gave us a beautiful view as well as spectacular sunsets. The hotel is being renovated and we obviously got a recently renovated room. Very nice with a few nice touches including soft bathrobes for each of us and beach towels. The pool was nice and the location was great. The staff was extremely helpful and most spoke some English but that was OK since my wife is Thai. We went during the Songkran Festival (New Years) and the place was packed with families and children. It never was a problem. We stayed on after the holiday weekend and it got a lot quieter. The beach is a short walk from the hotel and they have a private area with free chairs and umbrellas for hotel guests. Another nice perk. All in all it was great value for the money. I would recommend it to everyone and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountains. The seaview rooms look over a bunch of rooftops that are not particularly beautiful.

This hotel was quite a pleasant surprise. The staff were very polite attentive and efficient though thier English could be a bit iffy at times. Our room was on the top floor with a view of the sea over rather ugly rooftops though quite frankly pay slightly less and you will get a terrific view of the mountains and sunsets over the back of the hotel which were much nicer really. The balconies are large and spacious and the rooms very comfortable. My only really legitimate gripe was the complete lack of any storage space or even a simple chest of drawers for clothes. We had to live out of suitcases for the whole of our 9 night stay which was obviously less than ideal. The rooms are showing thier age slightly and could perhaps do with a refurbishment very soon.
The swimming pool was on the third floor and though quite small was ideal for non/weak swimmers as it never got more than 5 ft deep so also good for those with young kids. A thing to note though is that every Wednesday they take all the beach parasols and deckchairs off the beach so most guests head for the pool for shade . Be sure and get your towels down early on that day because competition is fierce for sun loungers at the pool then ! Asides from Wednesdays though the pool was never busy. A tip too if you are watching your baht is to buy a beer or ice cream at the 7/11 next to the hotel on the shorefront as it is 4 times cheaper than buying it at the poolside and its no hardship making the short 5 minute beer run .
The beach here is quite nice with a gently shelving shallows again ideal for kids. There are only deckchairs on offer though under the hotels beach parasols and we would much have preferred sun loungers instead. You can hire inflatable rings and beach toys for 50 baht per day from vendors behind the parasols and there seemed a fair number of sportier pursuits on offer here too if you were so inclined.
The breakfast here was really excellent with lots of choice every day. Be sure and try thier Thai meatballs or spicy pork mince and rice as they are to die for.
The clientele here were mainly elderly Scandinavians on long stay retirement winter breaks . There are few under 50s here and no night time entertainment at all in the evening (this could easily be said of Cha Am in general though). There might be little for younger folk here looking for a disco or a party.
If you are looking for a simple fly and flop break with no stress this place should fit the bill nicely but its no Ibiza and has no British clientele at it at all as far as we could discover. It suited us just fine that way though and we would certainly visit again.

This hotel is in the resort of Cha-am, which is a nice get away from Bangkok and makes for a quieter alternative to Hua-Hin (south of here). Most of the visitors seem to be Thai families and a sprinkling of Europeans. We stayed here as part of a Company trip so it was chosen for us. The room we were given was lovely and spacious with a sitting room and bedroom (bigger than the standard one). It was brightly furnished and very comfortable. There was also a large balcony with outdoor furiture, mountain views and sea glimpses. The rooms are supposedly newly renovated and I suppose the furnishings looked reasonably new (with good curtains and carpets), just a little old-fashioned. The room was well-equipped and even had towels for the beach. The only negative was that it had poor lighting and there didn't appear to be a room safe. The bathroom was large but a bit old with a lot of mould in the grouting on the tiles around the bath/shower. There was only a shower over the bath, but the water flow was very strong. It was very quiet inside the room, which I put down to it being an older construction and having more solid walls.
The corridors in the hotel look very old worn and uninviting and the lifts are very small, shabby and extremely slow. However, the hotel has a lot of good facilities such as a billiards/games area, roof top garden, pool, coffee shop on the beach and is located a hop, skip and a jump from the beach (the front entrance is from a side street which runs down to the beachfront).
The staff were very pleasant and I would also compliment them on their breakfast as they offered a tremendous variety of food that should please all comers.

Room tip: There seem to be quite a variety of rooms so question them carefully on what you are getting. It could also be annoying staying on the highest floors if slow lifts irritate you.
