We stayed at Methavalai hotel from July 11th until July 16th and the kids had a ball.

Was a bit put off by previous review of hotel by Irish traveller. All I can say is that the 10 of us who stayed there had a great 5 days and would definitely go back. We found the staff very helpful and friendly.

Need to be up early to get your sunbed booked though

We booked a delux thai pavillion which turned out to be a dirty, dark dingy room in the carpark. The carpet which was originally pink was now a grey colour and was so dirty I was afraid to take my shoes off. Pigeons nesting in the bathroom window woke us up at 5.30am each morn. As all the pavillions seen to be in the same state I would advise not booking these are they are anything but deluxe. I Found staff on front desk unhelpfull and rude, it took a week to get moved. This room was in the new building and while just a standard room was much better than the pavillion. Food in restaurant very poor all in all a very disappointing stay at a very poor quality hotel. I would recommend Hua Hin over Cha am any day.

I just returned from a holiday at the Cha-am methavalai and am planning my next holiday there already.

We were a group of 11 which comprised of 9 adults and 2 kids. The hotel doesn't have a private beach like the other named ones but it was alright. The beach is 5 stepas away from the hotel. There are beach chairs with umbrella's that have the hotel'slogo on it so you do not have to pay for the chairs(otherwise you have to because it is not a private beach). You have vendors selling things that range from sarongs to tablecloths to barbecued seafood and chicken to drinks. The vendors do not pester you but how does one let a steal go by?
The hotel has a new wing that is extremely wheelchair frendly. In our group we have an aged man who needed the wheelchair and it was good as there were slopes that he could use and the rooms in the new wing doesn't have carpet and the bathroom tiles are anti-slip which is very important for the elderly. the rooms are very spacious. when i personally travel, i stay at the shangrila and i went to the methavalai not knowing what to expect. But i was happy with the service. The have pools for kids and adults and at the pool there is a section for jacuzzi and the pool has a sunken bar too.
I have come back from a holiday very happy and am planning my next holiday to cha am and will be staying at the methavalai again.
I will strongly recoommend this hotel to anyone who asks. I have stayed at the regent chaam before but i will return to the methavalai.
