I've been guided to the Khao Sok Valley Lodge by the german "Loose" guidebook, where the valley lodge was highlighted. And i haven't been disappointed: The bungalows from the valley Lodge are located at a calm place inbetween trees and beautiful green. The simple stilt-bungalow, one of five, was equipped with a comfortable bed with thick mattress, vent, bathroom with toilet and hot showers and a large terrace for relaxing (also power points were available and free WiFi in the restaurant). While the choice of meals in the small but cosy restaurant wasn't that big, the food was delicious. Also the resort houses a lot of squirels and on and off monkeys visit the close surrounding, mainly makakes, but sometimes also langures. Also the largest toad i've ever seen visited us here, amongst other amphibes and reptilians (like the large black snake i saw escaping into a bush or a beautiful chameleon).

But although the bungalow and restaurant were very nice, they had been topped by an incredible hospitality and kindliness. Bao, who humorous owner who speaks very good english, and his employees, Men and Sai, took really a lot of care to ensure that i never was bored in between my hikes and little trips. So i also have been taken to very nice bathing places in the Sok (the local river) or to a waterfall, to a caoutchouc plantation where i could proof myself as caotchouc-farmer, to see some working-elephants while they were bathing and transporting trees or to the incredible relaxing tubing where you float on a tire on the Sok below green trees and high cliffs.

A big thank you to the valley lodge staff and a recommendation to anyone looking for a low priced accommodation at Khao Sok.

We had a good time and really great jungle tour with Bao! The jungle hats are simple and clean. The jungle tours are guided by Boa self. Prices are very fair and service is with love. Everything you need is availible. Even our laundry was washed overnight. Boa organised this fast service. f

If you wanna go back to basic, this is the place. If you wanna a decent bathroom, no spiders or ants in your room then this is not the place for you. Mr, Bao is fantastic guy who can learn you a lot about the jungle. He and his family are real nice people, who really worth te stay at their home. Also a trip to the lake is great, just small groups. And eat he arrange for you seems to be more than another groups.

We had a fantastic stay with Bao and Oy who run this place. We phoned to book and our jungle hut was ready when we arrived. All the little huts are raised up to tree house level and were very good value for money.

There's a lot more to do in Khao Sok than you think. As the national park is so near we spend a couple of days just exploring the park and water falls - make sure you go early in the morning - so much more to see - especially birds. Next we took Bao's recommendation of the famous Lake tour which starts next to an absolutely huge dam with beautiful views. We had a wonderful guide and Bao came along too, they took us for over an hour on a boat over the stunning lake. We even saw some gibbons up high in the trees, which I never thought' I'd see. I think I nearly using up all the space in my camera just on that part of the trip! Then we had lunch in a floating restaurant and had a jungle walk/climb in a beautiful cave. We saw so many interesting things in the jungle and BIG insects in the cave... lots of bats of course.

We also decided to extend our stay to take a canoe down the local river, with the guide doing all the work of course! We went really early about 7am and saw several king fishers, and snakes hiding in the trees. The river passes so many beautiful sights, limestone cliffs and it's so peaceful - we never saw another boat. Just a few local Thais playing in the water. The next day we found out that Bao also had some big tyre inner tubes which took down the river that passes just behind the bungalows - where we stayed. That was so much fun and the water was perfect.

We decided to eat in most nights, luckily they are really good cooks and it's so reasonable. If you go to Khao Sok don't miss out Valley Lodge - we're already planning to go back next year.

Room tip: Don't miss the Lake Tour

Mr. Bao is the very friendly owner of 5 tree huts in Khao Sok and a Trekking Tour Guide.

We stay for one night in a tree hut and booked a "2 days, 1 night Trekking Tour" with Bao as our Guide.

The huts a rustic and simple with private bathrooms located in the beautiful green nature. The food, especially the Thai Curry, is very good!

Mr. Bao and his family are very helpful and open-minded. They live in harmony with the nature, so we felt very well there! He tells us many interesting things on our trekking tour and drove us to the minibus and was there with us waiting for so long until the bus came (not self-evident). We drink some beer together and had a funny trip with perfect service!

Thank you from Germany to Mr. Bao and his family!
