Reservations via Sawadee. No problem on check-in. Size: Family Villa (for 2ad/2sub-teens). 1 queen. 1 twin, and they graciously did not charge for a rollaway bed (usually we build one kid-nest on the floor with blankets etc).

Clean, not the newest but very comfortable, if somewhat darkish room though we only saw one unit. Not complaining - we don't go to Thailand to spend time in the room other than when it's dark anyway :-) . AC somewhat noisy but works well. Adequately insulated so if you turn off AC in the middle of the night the room remains cool until wakeup.

Very nice pools - one by the Holiday House (GREAT family option!), the larger one by the main complex. Beware that if you do stay in the main complex (pool-view), there WILL be pool noise as the units semicircle around the pool and if there are kids, it is not avoidable to hear them. Pools were important due to jellyfish in ocean (warm onshore flow).

VERY friendly staff, helpful and courteous - even let me use their phone for a couple of local calls.

Nice beach - better walking to the N than S. A few glass shreds, but mostly the sand-polished kind.

Lots of dining options closeby.

Breakfast: Good, not extravagant. No Thai dishes due to low-season, but on my request/their offer they made us Thai Fried Rice which turned out to be the best I ever had!

Walk to the main drag takes 10 min or so. DO NOT MISS: Mon/Wed/Sat market right at the junction with main drag. 2/3 crafts/clothes/souvenirs, 1/3 local produce/fruit and outstanding streetfood! Starts around 1400, goes past sundown, shorter or canceled in hard rain.

All in all - excellent experience. We stayed at the Orchid and Bhandari also - for variety. Each one of those places is very different and very well worth it in their own way.

Room tip: Large family? 2 families? Holiday House!

This establishment is set right on the Bang Niang beach. This is good value for money for all types of travelers. The beach is fantastic. The garden villas are great and some are set close to the beach. Amenities offered are good.
Access to other restaurants etc is just a short walk. Bang Niang is generally a quiet and relaxing place.

Room tip: Garden villas set close to the beach.

my wife and i stayed here during our honeymoon and found the hotel to be adequate. the resort was a little bit dated, but comfortable enough and decent value for money within the context of khao lak. the beach location was nice and the hotel was within walking distance to a number of decent restaurants. the service at the hotel was good and the staff were very friendly and always smiling. we would recommend this hotel for cost conscious travellers looking for a good beach front hotel.

This resort is a cute little resort, offering a range of good accommodation. The swimming pools at the back of the resort are nice and it is not a long walk to the beach (although across a small but quiet road). The rooms are spacious but basic and top floor rooms require a small trek to the beach. The restaurant is slightly disappointing, however the bar by the beach is a great setting for a sunset cocktail. I would recommend this resort to those looking for a quiet holiday on a limited budget.

Room tip: Villas on the front lawn by the beach are the best, otherwise a pool access room at the back of the resort.

It's a basic hotel with a great beach location. Don't expect any frills or luxury. If you're coming to Khao Lak to hit the beach, this is fine -- clean and quiet. The breakfast is basic, but the coffee is fine.
