Went back to nang thong again this year for 3 weeks. Had a great time. We always found a sunbed by the pool cant comment on the beach sunbeds we didnt use them. Our room was lovely plenty of space. Food in the hotel was fantastic, the fresh fish was lovely. Again staff at the hotel were very good, really helpful. Hope to visit again.

Room Tip: If you are unable to stay in a beachfront bungalow, stay on the top floor end rooms.

Okay that is the negative out of the way. If you are one of the people that didn't remove your towels for the entire week shame on you. We are had a really good time staying at Nang Thong Resort. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. I took the golf buggy everyday to the supermarket and they would even wait while I bought my bread so got a lift back as well. All of the rooms are nice and kept clean. There are a number of decent restaurants throughout the town all offering cheap good food.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are good, we stayed in a beach bungalow to start with ( as our room in the main blo...

We stayed here at the end of our honeymoon for a couple of days. The rooms were nice enough, and the resort clean, but the service was definitely lacking and there was nicer less busy beaches in Khao Lak!

We arrived to Nang Thong Bay, and after a few minutes were told that we were at the wrong resort - they informed us that our room was to be at their sister resort down the road (Nang Thong Bay 2). That wasn't that big of a deal, they drove us down the road to the other resort.

The girl at the front desk was not at all informative and we had to return to the desk twice to ask questions about the wifi (spotty at best), and towels for the pool. The property itself was very nice, but the beach was nothing special.

Our main issue was with the other guests at the resort -- predominately europeans who acted very entitled and rude. When we arrived (4pm) all but a single chair had towels, t-shirts, pool noodles, etc on them. We though it was a bit odd, but found a nice spot to relax on the beach anyways. We soon realized that people were "saving" their chairs for the next day -- and every day that they were staying there.

Now I understand wanting a good spot by the pool or the beach, but they fact is that pretty much every single chair in the place was being saved, even though no one was using them! That is a little ridiculous - something I have never seen in any of my travels across the world!!! The fact that the staff even allows this to happen is even worse! -- as a side note, we had gone to the pool at Nang Thong Bay 1, and it didn't seem to be as big of a problem. So perhaps if our room had not been moved it would not have been an issue for us.

The location is alright, and easily within walking distance to many restaurants and whatnot.

Stayed in a Sea view Bungalow for 3 weeks in December 2012. Perfect if you travel with a baby. They provide babycot free of charge and have baby chairs in the restaurant.
This is a clean and quiet resort with excellent service. Really nice pool area.
Food in restaurant are OK (great for breakfast), but there is several restaurants to choose from nearby so it is no problem to find good food.
The resort offer free shuttle to their own Supermarket if you don't want to go the 400m.

This is my second stay at this resort and it will probably be more in the years to come.

Room Tip: The bungalows all look the same, so you just have to choose if you like to pay a little extra for se...

I'm very happy that we chose the Nang Thong Bay Resort. Compared to the bigger resorts the price was fantastic, and I prefer a boutique or smaller hotel anyway. We stayed in a Garden Bungalow, but we could see the sea from our front porch - so I didn't feel bad for not choosing the sea view bungalow! The room was large and the outdoor shower was great. One note: the bungalow was attached to another, so it's really a semi-detached bungalow (you will share a wall with another room).

The pool looked lovely, but we didn't end up using it once because it was so great swimming in the sea. The beach was clean and sandy at the Nang Thong, the water was clean, and it was just wavy enough to have fun playing in the waves without being knocked over (too much, anyway).

We ate at the restaurant once because it was raining (and it was pretty good), but there are many restaurants on the main street. Also, walk up the beach and you'll come across a number of beach restaurants.

Overall, a very good choice.

I had read several good reviews of NTBR1 and decided to book the same online. The booking was handled very professionally and I received immediate response to all my queries. We could not get the beach front bungalows but did manage to get the top floor rooms with partial sea view in the main building ( approx 2-3 min walk to the main beach).

We did have a very late check in but everything was spot on. The room was immaculately clean and well furnished with all the essential stuff that one could think of. The only small omission was that even though a tea/coffee maker was available in the room, there were no supplies of tea bags/sugar/milk sachets -- however that was no big deal.

The hotel is conveniently located right on the beach and maybe 0.5 km off the main hiway. The hotel does offer free rides on battery operated cars to the main road. The hotel's own restaurant provided good quality food while there was an equally good collection of food joints on the beach as well as on the road connecting the hiway to the hotel.

The hotel offers free internet and also has a small cyber cafe with a coule of computers and a printer for free. There were plenty of beach chairs, but one needs to book them early , in case you need to occupy a chair at a favourable location.

Overall, considering the price of 2500 THB that we paid per day during the peak season, this seemed to be an excellent value for money hotel.
