Just came back from 10 days at La Flora where we went with the entire family aging 23-79.
The place is beautifully located almost on the beach.
In advance we had upgraded my parent's deluxe room to a direct pool access room. It was definitely worth the price. The hotel even upgraded two more of our rooms for free - excellent service. i can highly recommend the pool access rooms as they face a more private pool. If I remember correctly the 600-rooms are in the shades whereas the 800-900 rooms are in the sun most of the day. There's also a nice pool bar here.

Even though the hotel was almost fully booked during our stay the area didn't seem crowded. You might have to get up early to get a specific sun bed, but the staff will quickly come assist you in case you need to move a sun bed.

The hotel is in walking distance of the small city with restaurants, shops and plenty of tailors. They will try to convince you to enter their shops, but if you politely reject them, they will leave you alone.

There are many good restaurants on the the beach as well. We especially enjoyed the first and second restaurant when turning left on the beach in front of La Flora

We can highly recommend the trips arranged by the hotel. Tiger and King took us for a very exciting trip with bamboo rafting and elephant riding. This was by far the greatest trip we went on. The trip to the Similan Islands is also very good but it's about a 1 hour sailing trip.

The Thai cooking class at the hotel was so much fun for the entire family. Three of the chefs taught us to cook the most delicious courses and it was very rewarding to enjoy the meals afterwards.

My parents enjoyed a romantic dinner on the beach one evening. The hotel only accepts one couple at the time which means it is a truly private dinner. Very good value for money and a good way to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

The Spa might be a bit more expensive than the booths on the beach but for us it was definitely worth the money.

Room Tip: Decide whether you want a room with terrace or balcony in the sun or in the shades. Rooms 800-900 are in the sun.

Our 7 night stay as the middle part of our Honeymoon was absolutely wonderful. From the second we stepped in the door to the final goodbyes we were treated like royalty. Every single member of staff was so polite and helpful. Even just in passing they would stop, smile say hello "Sawadee krap/Ka" and sometimes engage in conversation.
The room was well presented, very clean and well looked after by the maids. The mini bar was fairly priced and well stocked.
The external areas, gardens, paths and pool we all well maintained. Kept clean and tidy.
Our trip to the Similan Islands arranged through the hotel was value for money, a well organised fun packed day.
The restaurant was well arranged and had lovely views over the beach. Breakfast buffet was always well stocked and plenty of choice. There was a large menu available for lunch and dinner, although some items were overpriced the quality was always good. Good mix of specials on set nights, our favourite was the fresh sushi. Although the restaurant is lovely I would recommend taking a walk down the beach for you lunch and dinner. 100 meters along there is 4 or 5 beach bar / restaurants which serve some of the best Thai and seafood we have ever eaten. Our favourite was "SunBeach"
Overall I would highly recommend La Flora Resort & Spa, Its location is perfect the staff are lovely and the hotel is wonderful.

Room Tip: Don't worry about a pool access room, all rooms are close enough to the main pool.

I've just returned from Khao Lak and cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough. It is just like an oasis which is just so relaxing and peaceful when you've been outside up to the town which is about 10 minutes' walk away. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the pool is clean and well maintained and the breakfasts in the restaurant are delicious. Our room was absolutely perfect with very good airconditioning. It is well situated right next to the beach and there are plenty of restaurants in the town as well as excellent beach cafes which serve delicious meals, morning, noon and night. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

We knew nothing about La Flora other than the recommendations of Trailfinders. What we found exceeded our expectations. It was well laid out, spacious, clean and in an amazing location right on the beach. The scenery was idyllic with the restaurant facing the vast expanse of beach and the gently rolling waves. The 2 storey rooms all looked out onto beautifully designed pools that meandered like rivers. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful and they all wore huge smiles. I have never felt so relaxed and refreshed. I would definitely recommend La Flora to anyone looking to relax in a little piece of paradise.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms open onto the pool

We booked a six day stay at La Flora to rest up after eighteen days on the road travelling through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with Intrepid Travel. We knew nothing about the resort other than the recommendation of our travel agent (Trailfinders) so we were truly relieved to find that it really was everything they said and more. Our poolside room was literally three steps from the pool which ran like a road past our door and made it so easy to take cooling dips after bathing in the January sunshine of over thirty degrees.
Five minutes walk away was the main restaurant which served wonderful buffet breakfasts and dinners which offered excellent Thai, western or fusion meals. Next to it was the beach bar which had a sunset happy hour which became a fixed point in our evening. The staff are unfailingly polite, courteous and concerned for your comfort. Along the wide sandy beach you can find plenty of small restaurants to try as alternatives to La Flora but we were so grateful to be in a fixed place after our wandering s that we only ventured out a couple of times.
The resort attracts a mainly middle-aged European clientele but there was also plenty of evidence of young couples enjoying a romantic break or honeymoon - and why not while Europe shivered in ice and snow?

Room Tip: We were in room 809. The ground floor rooms are best for private poolside sunbathing.
